lol. J/P! After waiting 2 weeks for the car to be delivery. Im a proud owner of a 05 Dodge SRT-4. Being that I have never tested one. I can tell you...this car is rediculous! Sucks you right in the seat at like 4 rpms and up....The S2000 was fast but it seems as if this thing is even quicker. I was quite impressed by it! The SRT-4 was only at the dealership for 4 days before I ordered. I sure am lucky. It is the car I have been waiting for.

I also have a question. All these moddied SRT-4 around this site. Like your PSI chick. How much do those mods lower the life of this engine? I plan on doing a few mods. With my last car. I had screwed up with the turbo kit and sent my engine to the ground. The only things I would like to do to the car right now is a Short ram, 2.5 exhaust and a BOV.I dont want to hurt the car since it will be my daily driver. One of the SRT-4 here in town has about 600 to the wheels but yet hes blown like 2 engines. I definitely dont want to be that guy. If anyone couldhelpout and spread some love for me. That would be cool.

 

The mods you mentioned won't hurt it at all.............

that guys is either doing one of two things...

1. trying to run (or claiming to run) 600hp on a stock block. then he's just a complete moron.
2. his engine builder is a moron and can't build a motor properly.

both of those issues are easily fixable with some brains. i'm at about 420whp and i'm not about to blow my motor anytime soon. if you remove the balance shafts you can go to about 500hp/550tq on the stock block. if you leave in the shafts you're good to about 450ish. the mods that you're looking to do won't get you anywhere near those numbers, so you'll be just fine.

 

Mod away - the iron block in these things is well...an iron block(lol). Cracked rods, and a host of other things in there are actually pretty beefy...with the venture gear T-850's straight cut gears you are in pretty good shape.

Just don't mod it irresponsibly, no wastegate spring mods...ie. no homemade junk and do it right and the car should last.

You will also enjoy the results of the first few mods you mentioned in sound and performance. The short ram in particular really let's you hear the turbo, and it wakes the car up at the top end in a big way. The exhaust compliments well too. Warning - you may get addicted to hooking this car up...it responds sooooo well.

Im really excited. I remember when I put my turbo kit on my 04 celica GT. Although it had the air filter right on the compressor side and a stock eclipse GSR BOV. I would drive for miles with the windows down. Radio turned off. Just to listen to the beautiful GT28r turbo whistle, air filter sucking away, muffler roaring. shifting into 3rd-4th-5th gearhearing the blow off valve go. Such sweet symphony!!! I want that with this car and NOTHING more. I dont need power. I love seeing people have 300 hp - 400 hp of mods in their engine. Getting11s and 12 at the track.But dear lord would I not want that in my car. That is way over my level. I dont need that much power. Im not desperate to go fast when my car already is. I want to keep it safe but fun. Best route for me.
