MODS + BOOST
so a little new to to the turbo scene and i was wondering if i install a new FMIC and exhaust on my srt is it gonna increase my boost. when i installed my intake i noticed it bumped up the boost 2 PSI.
ANY IDEAS???
ANY IDEAS???
What all is done to your car? Your boost is usually controlled by an aftermarket boost controller. Some are manual some are electronic. Nothing else really "increases" boost. You may find that when the car is able to breathe better it performs a bit better giving you higher boost, but adding other parts doesn't increase your boost persay. There are other factors as well, such as humidity, elevation, etc. If you are on a stock turbo you really aren't going to benefit any from an upgraded FMIC. Your stock FMIC is poised to run well up until 19psi. After that, if you are running higher boost, it starts to lose its efficiency. That is the point that you should get an upgraded one. With FMICs you get what you pay for too. Buy something cheap, even though its "bigger" than the stock one, the stock one will perform better. A perfect example of this is the CCA FMIC.
What numbers are you running for boost right now? Stock is anywhere between 11-15 depending on the factors I listed previously. The exhaust will help it breathe better but wont increase boost directly.

well right now i have the mopar BOV, K&N cold air and MOPAR stage 1 upgrade kit. my boost peaks about 17 PSI and holds 16 PSI. i dont want to do to change my fuel system just yet so im trying to keep my boost and HPwithin good reason of that stock fuel system.
so in other words upgrading to a better FMIC isnt worht it yet>???
any recommendations on upgrades i can do without changing the fuel system>??

3" Exhaust
3" O2 Housing
2.5" Charge Pipe
3" Intake (K&N is too restrictive being smaller than 3")
Throttle Body 55mm DCR or 60mm MPx
Manual or Electronic Boost Controller (your choice)
Plugs - NGK 4306 or Denso ITLs
Wires - Granatellis
Walboro 255 (doesnt include the whole system but just a part of it that will help with higher flow)
Oil Catch Can (you should have this little thing anyways to prevent a big muck of blow by)
Hard Pipes/BOV (gains are questionable but if you want to upgrade the BOV you could do these)
Solid Motor Mounts
And thats all I would suggest for simple bolt ons. You could get a ported/polished exhaust manifold, ported intake manifold, super stock or E1 turbo (both built off the stock turbo) then go with cams and such but thats going a bit crazy without first upgrading the fuel.
