are turbo times necessary on every eng shut off?
well if you have one thats great...you should let it do what it was put in there to do. Because what its doing is keeping the oil circulating out of the turbo so it doesn't build up and turn into TAR ruining the Turbo! so i would...i had a civic turbo and so did my buddy and he refused to get one saying it was a waist of money and its amazing how my turbo is still in tact and his is long gone!!
The only thing i can think of for a bad smell would be that you mildew build up inside the AC Condensor...thats the only thin i can honestly think of! Other people may know alot more than i do but that would be my best guess! ask around see what you can get!
You really don't need to let the car idle if you didn't drive the car hard. If you want, it wont hurt. I always let it idle when I drove the car hard though.
It says in the manual to let it cool down for 2 minutes after hard driving or driving the car with a heavy load. It says for normal driving you don't have to let it cool.
I don't have a turbo timer but Ialways let mine cool down for 2-3 minutes after driving under those circumstances or after a long trip. Otherwise, I will still usually let it idle for a minute or so but occasionally I don't have time to wait so I just shut it right off. No problems so far, and my car is 5 years old with over 100K miles.
