Default Blue plate question...

After 1 hour of messing with the surge valve. I got the damn thing on. RR advice did help alot but I did one thing differently then everyone else. I disconnected the battery ofcourse. Detached the intake tube and took off the intercooler piping from the turbo so that i could have easy access to the 3rd bolt. I put everyone back together. Started up the car. It went pssssh....While driving I noticed something. When punching the gas. Is there suppose to be a loud hissing before it blows off???

shouldnt hear anything unusual before the blowoff. feeling different as far as power? boost levels changed? might be leaking now.

Well I tighted everything up. I still here the hissing. I didnt know if it was normal. Kinding has a nice sound with it but then Im thinking. The blow should be clean. I put RTV as a sealant. I thought I put enough on it.

I went to the track to confirm things. Kind of a sloppy way to find out if Im leaking. I did 4 runs. My first 3 runs were a 15.2 and my last run was a 15.0 flat. I dont WOT shift. I can shift quickly but that still seems slow to me. Reason behind that is because I had a 04 Celica GT that was turbo @ 6lbs of boost and my fastest run which was in the day ran a 15.0. With the celica stock with some bolt ons. I ran a 16.0.Im just thinking of taking the blue plate off and leaving it stock till I get a quality blow off valve. Not saying the mopar BOV is bad. Just not good to me. Im looking into the HKS Ssq package from modern performance. If I cant put on the blue plate right the first time. No reason to go messing with it to make it work. It spikes at 10 and goes down to 6-7. That aint right. Maype its the wrong sealant.

Anyone have any comments? Feel free.

EDIT: Wouldnt reinstalling it make the leak worse? Scrapping the sealant? Just to put it back on?

well, i would suggest doing a boostleak test on it... it is possible its not the bov causing the issue. coulda disrupted something in there messing around, a pipe/hose could have come off

Are you sure you tightened the charge pipe on the back of the turbo up and that the coupler is completely around the turbo's outlet? That will make a hissing/whining sound under open throttle if not tightened properly. You have a serious boost leak somewhere.
