Well my claim of 350HP is on a fully built motor, aftermarket heads, cam, all the supporting modd's and the turbo boosting about 20psi. I believe some guy wanted to set the record for fastest stock turbo srt-4 and managed high 11's, using no nitrous, with full interior.

with all forged internals you could be pushing like 25psi or possible more. that should get you into the mid to high 300s. someone correct me if im wrong but i dont see why you cant push this kind of pressure out of a stock turbo. ive seen srts with this kind of pressure before so why not right?

because the turbo isn't efficient past about 19psi. sure you can run it to 25psi, but it's not making any more power there than it is at 19psi.

building a motor, head, all bolt ons, etc on a stock turbo is just retarded and no one other than that one idiot you're talking about is going to do that lol, so it's not worth even talking about that kind of a situation.

turbos will spin until they tear themselves apart. doesn't mean that they make power until then. turbos have a range that they work best at, both low end and high end. once you go out of the top end of the effiency of the turbo it's not making any more power, just blowing hot air. small turbos (like our stock one) can only make so much power. once you get that turbo spinning at like 100k rpms it just can't do any more. you can turn the boost up, but it's still running the same flow rates, just with hotter air. which kills your power.

that's why i laugh at these idiots that run the stocker at 23psi thinking they're making more power. they're not. they are making more torque, but i can just about guarantee that a car with the same mods running in the efficency range of the turbo will be faster.
