Default Warrenty Issues HELP PLZ

Hi I am a newbie to DF and also a newbie to modifing cars. I boughtan SRT-4 back in april 03, and now started to upgrade. First of all I have put in a 2000 watt amp with 2 polk momo subs ( professionally installed ). Second I have a K&amp;N air filter. MSD ignition wires 8.5mm super conductors,bosch plat +4 plugs and Mopar BOV conversion kit. All installed. Last i did the airbox mod.IAlso have a stage one turbo upgradewaiting to be installed in my garage. Now does anyone know for certain what will void the warrenty. I know what i replace isn't covered, but does the upgrades void any other components. I called today and I found out that the BOV doesn't because it is from MOPAR. Please help mebecause my engine is acting up. My idle rpm goes from 500 to 900 going up and down wildly. Alsowhen i take my foot off thegas sometimes the car goes on its own and the rpm and speed continue to go up. WhenI amdeaccelerating my rpm goes down then sharply goes up to 2500 to 3000 and stays theretill i come to a complete stop. Please helpme because i am very worried. My engine lightisn't on.No matterI am going tomorrow to Dodge to check it. Ijust want toknow it i should change everything back. Thank God thatI don't have to take off the BOVbecause that was the longest mod to do.</P>

There are as many opinions on this as there are performance parts for a SRT-4...if you use Mopar parts and the dealer does the install, chances are pretty good they will honor the warranty. BUT, my dealer advised me the Stage upgrades would VOID the warranty on the TURBO no matter who installed it. According to other posts on this forum, there is a federallaw which requires that the dealer prove any modifications made were the cause of the failure of a particular part/system...warranty laws also vary state-by-state. Dealers are different too, hopefully yours has a liberal warranty policy. BTW, my Mazda pickup had the same problems about a year after I bought it. I stopped buying gas at c-stores and started going to real gas stations and ran a few bottles of fuel system cleaner thru it...the problem fixed itself. As far as taking things off to try and fool the dealer, be careful, a sharp mechanic can tell if a part has been replaced, removed or "fiddled with". You might just want to make a few phone calls to some dealersfirst, and ask the questions, not giving your name of course. One last thing, who's been doing your scheduled maintenance? If you've been taking it to a dealer, they will probably be more willing to fix your problem since you've dropped a few coins in their pocket. Also, if they serviced your SRT and saw any "illegal" mods, it's good business practice to mention it to the customer...that could be more ammo in your belt if they won't honor the warranty...good luck!</P><edited><editID>dustyloins</editID><editDate>38019.8335185185</editDate></edited>

Default Warrenty Issues HELP PLZ

i just had my srt in the shop for fly wheel bolt falling out some how and I thought it was me. I have aftermarket intake , exhaust , bov flange. they didn't say anything to me except well fix it if it isn' a clutch. With the stage 1 I know that effects the warranty. That is why they ask for the vin # of your car so it can be recorded because it isn't legall for the streets due to emissions and it is a "off road performance up grade". I think you'll be ok if you put your stock pcm and injectors back on because all it is is a throttle position oridle control sollinoid. I noticed you have bosch platinums in your car remove them asap!!!! Those are so bad for your car. The heat range for your TURBO car is champion range 4. Those could come apart in the cylinder or cause detonation. I gerentee that is one of your problems. Put the stock plugs back in, they will work the best w/ your ignition upgrades.<edited><editID>hotwheels</editID><editDate>38020.080787037</editDate></edited>

Hi,</P>

</P>

New here. I've had my SRT-4 since last Feb (03). The throttle issue you are having is tied to your TPS (throttle position sensor) or its wiring harness. The link is for a sticky at SRTForums.com</P>

It details all we know on this. While not really a "common" problem, it is common enough for a sticky. I don't think any of your mods should have any effect on warranty. If I were you, I would do away with the platinum plugs, they do not like the conditions in a turbo engine. Check the turbododge.com forums for more info on that. That crowd is into the older turbo dodges. Feel free to PM or E-mail me. </P>

You're certainly welcome...I like to believe that we're here to help each other out, dispite an occasional difference of opinion on certain issues. But then that's what America is all about.</P>

Good luck and you may want to take a witness along as well and be sure to note dates, times, names, etc, just like writing a police report<IMG src=smileys/smiley36.gif border="0">.</P>

It will void your turbo, all else remains covered.
