Default clutch noise

Im thinking Ive got some throwout bearing noise. If the car is used in spirited driving and running a bit warmer than usual the clutch makes noise, kind of a klunking, when the pedal is on the way up. I dont abuse it, the wheel hop drives me crazy, I do use it though. funny thing is when its first fired up it is totally quiet. anyone else have these noises? 3900 miles showing.

does the chatter stop when you engage the clutch? when exactly do you hear it? is it a chatter or a klunk?

if it's more of a klunking noise, i'd be more likely to say it's an axle than the tob.....

The noise does stop as the clutch pedal is almost to the floor and on the way up(~1" from floor), it makes noise when pressing and releasing the pedal w/trans in neutral. I figure bad cv joints would clunk if driven slowly at full steering lock. Its more of a clunking than chatter. I just thought as it warms up the sound is audible so I figured it was the tob. Youve gone thru your share of clutch/trans woes if I remember correctly. I hope that lsd is treating you well. most of the time the kicker takes care of the noise but if its clutch related I dont want a fight at 12000 mi (we all know who wins those battles).

if the noise is stopping as you engage the clutch, then it is probably the tob. it's just usually a chatter sound rather than a clunk. it sounds almost like something rattling around in the engine bay, just you hear it near the front drivers side only. maybe we are just describing the same noise differently !

the tob isn't that big a deal, but i wouldn't expect the dealer to cover it. you can get a new tob for about $60 from hendrick's.

i have had my fair share of tranny issues, which are now seemily resolved. i got a 04 tranny with 1500 miles on it and a cm s4 clutch. all is well with it, and i can't wait to get my car back and get to the track! it's in the shop right now for some more goodies
