What type oil do you use in your SRT-4 ????
Stick with either 5 or 10W30 Mobil 1 and you'll be fine. Synthetics are great and don't break down nearly as fast as conventional oils, they also protect far better and free up horsepower.
i use mobil 1 0w40 year round. pvo (or srt, whatever you want to call them) told my dealer that for my driving pattern and the weather in new york, that was the best choice for me. hey, if it's good enough for a viper it's good enough for my srt-4!
PSI-Chick where did you find the 0w-40. I can only find Mobil1 0w-20 around here. Thats whats recommended for the Chrysler Crossfire also it says 0w20 right on their cap.
Hmmm am I hurting anything with the 20 instead of the 40? Seems to run a helluva lot better to me

The 0w-40 doesn't screw anything up? I have never heard of an oil weight like this until I read this post. I'm thinking I might change my oil now.
no, it doesn't screw anything up. it's the recommended oil for the viper and srt-10 ram (same motor). i've been pleased with it. it's thin enough that it flows freely at start up, even in the cold, but also has enough viscosity to handle the abuse that i give the car without too much break down. pvo said to use it, so i am!
I went hunting yesterday and all we have up here in Rhode Island at the stores I've been to is 0w-20, I can't find the 40 at all. I'll have to buy it online or something.
PSI Chick, should I stick with 20 or bump up to 40?

the 20 should be fine, but in the summer you might want to bump it up to a 5w30, you don't need the lower viscosity for a cold start and the 30 will not brake down as fast in the heat. for winter the 0w20 shouldn't cause a problem.
the 0w40 can be found at walmart in 5 gallon jugs, quite a few people have reported that they have gotten it there. i don't have walmart, so i can't tell you if this is accurate or not. you can also try a local mobil station. they should stock all the viscosities, or be able to get it for you. we source it through a dealership at the shop, but get it at a reduced price. if you know someone that works at a garage they can probably get it for you as well. any srt authorized dealer will have it due to it being the required oil for the srt-10 motors.
