Thinking about buying srt4...
I am considering buying a SRT4, and was wondering what yall think of yours. What are your gripes about the car, if any, and what do you think of it overall? Any reliability issues? How well do these cars respond to mods? How is the build quality? Thanks.
well over all the stock car is great, is really great with mods. the only problem is the car has massave understear needs stiffer shocks if your going to hardhore race it, can't gun it in first "or your laying there smokeing your tires away" i think its the best car i have owned besides the fact im paying 375 a month for insurance
I think they respond pretty well to mods. Just by adding an aftermarket wastegate you will feel the difference.($150 or so) Its a reliable car but just like every other car maker you have problems here and there with certain ones. I was personally am a foreign car person owning 1996 and 2000 maxima. 96 maxima had no problems with it and drove it til 92,000 miles(bought it used) while the 2000 maxima fell apart. I think dodge over the last year or so have been coming out with some nice cars so I decided to get the srt. Alot of people don't like it because it looks to much like a neon but I personally don't have a problem with a neon. (lancers are the same way with the evo) I really think its a great buy for the price.
For the price, the SRT-4 gives you the most bang for the buck. Build quality is decent, reliability is good, and there is a good selection of mods if you decide to go that route. They are still rare enough in many parts of the country that they draw looks and questions (A few weeks ago a lady was looking at my SRT-4 when I came out of a store and she was surprised to see it was a Dodge. She said she thought it was a Mitsu from a distance.).
There are a few faster cars, but with less than $1,500 in mods (CAI, Mopar/Borla exhaust, and Stage 2) you'll be blowing the 2005 Mustang GT into the bushes!!!

I love mine! Paul I still can't believe your selling yours!!!!!!
I think its just cause you haven't driven in for months since its been hiding away in the garage.
Gripes?? NO ASH TRAY! LOL I know how lame is that right? No rear power windows...but let me tell you...that sure does come in handy. So to some it may be a gripe, but really think hard about it, and it kinda rocks for situations....yes thats it
. No cruise control, but the cars so damn fun to drive you don't even notice it, nor want it. The Viper seats really hold you in tight, and they're wicked comfortable too.
They do respond extremely well to mods. The only thing I would say is that the suspension needs to be stiffened a bit. The handling isnt as good as it should be (supposedly the ACR is better). Best bang for your buck. But be prepared to eat it on insurance if your young. I'm a 20 y/o female paying 344 a month. [>:] (One accident one 1-10 ticket). But even without all that my insurance would still be close to 300 bucks a month. Ouchie.

damn...$344/month? I only pay $600 every 6 months on my '97 s10. My record is clean, by insurance standards. nothing in the last 3 years, but before that......lol. let's just say it sucked. I still live at home, so i may just let dad insure it in his name, since he is 65 with a spotless record. not even a speeding ticket. ever.
