Default Code P0340 sporadic - stumbles when set

I tried to enter this thread early this AM - but it never listed. Forgive me if there is a huge hesitation.

My wife ordered her orange blast '05 SRT-4 in late Aug '04 - the dealer got it 10/04 - tired of waiting, I roamed his lot to find it and we got it over a month later. I have no faith in them, so the recent troubles, the gas cap, got me to buy an OBDII reader. In it's first month, she got the MOPAR 'tuner' tail lights and an OCC. It's been troublefree... until very recently.

It grew a chia pet on a battery terminal in a couple of days last fall - new battery connectors - and eventually, a new battery. Oddly, my Liberty just ate it's similar cheesy connectors - guess it'll need a battery soon. Five plus years on OEM battery - I shouldn't complain. Now it sets P0340 and 'stumbles' under mild acceleration, causing me to drive it - and she now has my '05 Liberty. Last week, it wouldn't start after stopping for breakfast - it was low 20's F outside - up from the nite's 16 F. By the time the tow truck got there, it started. It did the same thing when I visited a friend's widow - in more moderate temps - later that day. I put a water eating additive - and filled it from what has been good gas. The car has ~60k miles on it now. Regular oil changes - MOPAR/K&N air filter cleaning & oiling - one set of front disc pads - Kumo tires.

Today I cleaned the cam sensor connectors - and an oil covered device mounted on the end of the head under the exhaust camshaft end. I remade those connections and a few others. Finally, I pulled the original spark plugs - Champion RE14MCC5 - center electrode very short - gap .068 - .070" - light beige coloration. I am awaiting my Jeep for a trip to get plugs. Any other ideas - or suggestions - would be appreciated. Gas mileage went from 23 to less than 21 mpg over the last year or two - my wife has a lead foot - I can get 24+ and still have fun.

Any ideas - whether the plugs might have inadvertently set the code - what plugs are best - other things to check/change - would be appreciated. Thanks!
