Default New Owner!

Horray for me! I am the proud new owner of a new 2004 (well, as of Wednesday). Got the price down to 19K for a black one with a sunroof. Does this sound fair to you blokes?

Absolutely Congrats on the new car. Be nice to it for the first few thousand miles, it'll get faster and faster until you reach 10K. Change the oil over to 5w30 FSyn as soon as you can, make sure to get new plugs and wires, and put an oil catch can on when you get the chance.

Welcome to Dodge Forums, if you want/need to know anything feel free to ask us here, we're a pretty helpful bunch. Good luck with the new SRT.....prepare to be broke

Oh by the way I had 7K for a downpayment so my payments are a sweet a$$ 234 a month for 60 months! I'll find out for sure about insurance tomorrow but i called a month ago to get a quoteand they said 560/6months which is pretty good i guess.

I think i'm gonna invest in the OCC this week if i have the time. So you think i should go ahead and change both the plugs and wires or should i let the crappy stock ones die a fast death first? Also has anyone had the factory install cruise? The dealer quoted me like $450 including installation. Does this sound about right?

Im not too fond of cruise control on turbos...having the turbo at a set VAC just doesnt seem right to me. Plus the cars so damn fun to drive you wont even want cruise.

For the plugs and wires, as cheap as the modification is, your better off just popping some MSD 8.5mm, and some NGK Iridiums in the car whenever you get the cash. I have 18,500 miles on my car, and I've been in for the TSB twice, and for other spark plug/wire related issues on two other occasions. At the time I didnt have a job because I got into a bad wreck and couldnt replace them, so no Im not THAT cheap. Its definitely worth the few bucks that it takes.

Check here for the install on the "ghetto" catch can, which most of us have come to use and love: http://www.dodge-srt4.com/howto/catchcan.html

Out of curiosity, how much does the spark plug/plug wire replacement cost. I assume i have to have it done at the dealer so they don't give me crap about warranty violations. Will they cover labor but just make me buy the parts?

As much as I love driving, I wouldn't mind cruise control at times. I didn't know cruise could be installed - what are the details, and can it be done to a car post delivery?

Congrats Bep9904!!![sm=smiley20.gif]
You are going to love your SRT. Had mine for about 1 year now, just as excited to drive it as the first day I picked it up. Enjoy Bep, try to keep it under 153 MPH [sm=gears.gif]

Plugs and wires should be under 60 dollars for everything, you can do them yourself at home. Wires are usually around 40-50 bucks for four, and the plugs you should get the Iridiums, I believe I saw for 20 bucks on Modernperformance.com. PSIChick knew of a cheaper place to find them, forgive me I cant remember what it was. And no they wont violate your warranty, my dealership is actually going to be installing a non-mopar part on my vehicle within the next couple of weeks when it comes in. Some dealers just kick *** at that, others dont.

Well i am sure plug wires are pretty easy but can you recommend a FAQ for doing your own spark plugs. I can handle light mechanical work but i have never done a spark plug change before.
