Default First Oil Change

Took my 3 month old 2004 SRT-4 in to tthe dealer for its first oil change today. I was in and out in about 30 minutes. No charge. I had forgotten the first year's oil changes were free as part of the service contract/extended warranty I had purchased.

I asked the service manager about installing stage 1 and if it would void my warranty. He said if I had stage 1, it would void the warranty on the TURBO but nothing else. He also said any other mods (I didn't ask about stage 2) were OK if they don't cause a warranty covered item to fail.

That is exactly right. Despite what many other people say on this forum, the only way that a part can void your warranty is if they can prove that that exact part is what made something go wrong. When you put any mopar part on that won't void your warrenty unless that added part causes the problem. Law says that any added part is the same way. Legally they cannot void your warranty

Yeah, it IS a law, I think the exact name is mentioned in the Syn Lub forum on this website, for those of you who want to impress your dealer with your knowledge! As best as I can remember it was something like the "Moss-Ferguson Act" or something close to it....[&:]

All you need is the Mopar Performance Street Essentials catalog. Page 4, third paragraph says,"Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep vehicle and parts warranties are voided if the vehicle or parts are used for competition. The addition of performance parts does not by itself void a vehicle's warranty. However, added performance parts (parts not originally supplied on the vehicle from the factory) are not covered by the vehicles warranty, and any failure that they may cause is also not covered by the vehicle's warranty." Nuff said.[sm=smiley2.gif]

Stage 1, 2, 3 or 400,000 cannot void any warranty on any parts, including the turbo.[sm=smiley4.gif]
