PSI Chick Please help!
i don't even know if there is a chilton's for our car's, i've never seen or looked for it. if you want, i can email you the service manual, i have it in pdf format. i use that mostly when looking for problems, or i call up a friend who has access to the dcx database for the more detailed manuals.
here's a link to building a intercooler leak tester IC tester. it explains how to build and use it. it's the best way to find leaks. a smoke machine will also work if you have access to one.
you are going to see boost spikes when driving. these cars will just about always spike a few psi up before it settles. so you might see spikes of 15psi, and then it drops to 12 or 13psi and holds there. that is normal. if you're spiking 15 and holding 8 or 10 then there's a problem. grab someone and throw them in the car to watch the boost gauge and let you know exactly what it's doing when you get on the car. it can be very difficult to pay attention to the boost gauge and drive the car!
wot = wide open throttle shifting. it's when you shift without taking your foot off the gas. good for racing, but not something that you should be doing all the time.
