Default '03 vs. '04 SRT-4

I am about two months away from making my purchase of an SRT-4: I have really two main questions- are the benefits of the '04 having slip control and 230hp worth the extra $2K it would cost me to get one. If I were simply to get the '03 and bolt on the Mopar stage 3 when it comes available, would that make up for the new features of the '04???? After mods and cost of car, I want to stay in the $22-$23K ballpark. Any suggestions?????

I bought mine for 23600 out the door. I would get the 04'. It's new and theres no better feeling than being the first owner. I didnt' mind paying the extra. There are also other updates to the car that aren't on the sticker. I don't know them but you are buying an improved over last years model car. Stage 3 won't be out for a while and you can buy a stage 3 setup from aftermarket products anyway.

I agree. One of the biggest complaints about the "03 model was the lack of a LSD. The one they added for "04 is a gem. I paid 21650 out the door, but they had 4 in stock at the time. A few days ago when I went back, they didn't have any.

You also won't have to wonder how roughly the car was driven, if and when any service work was done on it, and if the owner had any problems with it. Plus, the hard working factory people up in IL have that much longer to perfect their assembly line techniques...

If there was any way you could find a new or under 100 miles 03, after you put a LSD and stage three, it would be nearly perfect, but I would ahve to agree with everyone else and say stick with buying a new one. The 04 has more bugs worked out of it than the 03. it is well worhh the $2000 to have a brand new car that no one has abused.

Go with the '04, it will cost you more money in the long run to upgrade an '03 to the same level as an '04. I got the financing through with mine today and it came to $22,230 and thats with sales tax, gap insurance and the extended warranty all wrapped up to go, it also has the sunroof.[sm=smiley4.gif]

Does anyone have an idea of when the mopar stage 3 kit will become available- also if I were to purchase teh stage 2 kit, will the stage 3 kit be available with only the additional parts I would need???? My goal is to outrun an '03 Cobra and its 390 horses in both 0-60 time and the quarter mile!

In June.... from what I have heard.

The kits will have the upgrade from a S2 or a full S3 option.

If you can find a Yellow 04' with a sunroof... BUY IT !! they only made about 25 yellow 04's and of those about 12 had sunroofs A rare find.

If you get the 03' you will still spen about 2k to have the upgrades alone. So get the 04 and enjoy your ride.

Does anyone know the SRT-4's production numbers, how many have/are/are going to be built each year?

The only figures I've been able to find are from a Dodge dealer in California...according to them, as of Nov 2003, 4,400 SRT-4s had been sold....
