Default I need help with my wifes SRT-4

Here is the story. I was driveing with my wife and kid in her 05 SRT-4 witch has 4,500 miles on it. The car is bone stock, ( she won't let me tinker with it ) I have way of makeing cars do strange things when I'm driveing. I was an A/B tech at a GM dealer for 5 years , witch might have something to do with it. Well yesterday I got the SRT-4 to hit 18 psi boost and fuel cut. Now here is how I made the car over boost and fuel cut. I noticed If you put a load on the car ( pull a hill in 5th gear) at part throttle the boost would climb past the 15 psi mark. so I found a good long hill and I eased into the throttle with out going wide open , and to the suprise of me and my wife the boost went to 18 psi and fuel cut. So here is my question. am I the only one to have made an SRT-4 do this? any feed back would be great. Thanks

every srt will do that if you are in 5th gear going up a hill. it's also a very bad thing to do, so i would suggest not doing it again. you're putting a huge strain on the engine and turbo.

psi chick, thanks for the feed back. but this was not done at low speed, I was going 55 -60 mph when I started up the hill and eased into the throttle.

doesn't matter. the car is trying to produce enough power to keep you at speed, so basically you're forcing the engine and turbo to work a lot harder to make enough power to get you up the hill. and hitting fuel cut is a bad thing for the car. if the hill was large enough to cause the car to have to spike to 18psi to get you up it, you should downshift, your car will thank you. 5th gear is not a gear that's meant to produce power, it's meant to cruise in, which is why the car has to work so much harder to accelerate in that gear.

I under stand what your saying about sraining the engine. I just thought the ECU would pull back the boost based off the MAP sensor before it would fuel cut .

no, for some reason the ecu isn't designed to do that. it would rather hit fuel cut than pull boost.
