Fluttering Noise Zduring Boost?
I just installed a Stage 1 PCM. I have a AEM Short Ram which of course magnifies intake and turbo noises. In 3-4-5 gears at full throttle boost the gauge goes to 18-19 lbs and fluttlers along with a fluttering noise from the intake. Is this sound caused by the Wastegate opening and closing rapidly. Will this boost flutter calm down and steady as the computer adjusts. This was only the second day of driving since installing Stage 1. Why does by boost not stay steady or peak and gradualy drop?
Bob, did you see what I replied in your last post about the flutter? I wouldn't worry about it, as long as your not popping a CEL, and it's running well. Remember the more power and mod's you make, the more you will notice NVH issues. THe boost should level off within a few hours of driving. Keep in mind, those factory gauges are notorious for going south and loosing accuracy.
RIP
Is all that I am hearing is the rapid open and closing of the wastegate? I never heard the flutter prior to install of Stage 1. Is it the extra boost that is casuing the wg to open and close more often?
Thanks!

I think I have heard a similar noise. You aren't talking about the "horse laugh", right? Does it sound like air escaping through a tiny hole in a gasket or escaping through a crack in a hardly loose intercooler hose...more like a high pitched whistle/trill/flutter -> gets louder around 3-4000 rpm's - if this describes what you are mentioning, I would check all lines and hoses. It could simply be line to the gauge making the noise if hte guage is taking a crap. Do you have the BOV? This could be a source as well.
Bob its normal.. i have the same issues. its the tubine from the turbo spooling down. The turbo sometimes "chop" the air-intake.. i.e. "chopping"
