Boost Spikes off the Dial !!!
I have the nornal mod stuff: AEM Short Ram - Stage 1 - Maxfab Downpipe with Borla - MSD Coil & Wires - NGK Iridium Plugs. Today I added a Stage 2 WG after finally getting out 3 stubborn heat shield bolts. I had read that I might experience some severe boost spikes until the PCM adjusted. The WG came set at 4mm and I hooked up to the stock black line.
Well the first time I stepped on it the feeling was like a 100 shot of Nitros. The gauge pegged way past 20lbs. I experienced 2nd gear wheel spin with out even trying. I found out that wild boost spikes are far more than just on a gauge. I let off quickly and did not experience fuel cut off. I stepped on it several times in 2nd and 3rd and each time the gauge went crazy = 25+. Does everyone who installed an upgradedWG experience this kind of thing? The power surge is so strong that it may be dangerous to the engine? I did not experience any PTB conditions though?
- When does overboost fuel cutoff occur? after 2-3 seconds?
- Can my gauge be damaged by going past the vertical down point?
- How long until my PCM takes control over the spikes?
- Will I have to go through this process everytime I reset the PCM for an additional mod with it starting at the stock WG settings?
The thing reacts so fast that it is scary and jumps like a rocket though.

a s2 wga is not stock settings. it's set to run at about 17-19 psi under control of the s2 ecu. when not under control of the s2 ecu, you need to adjust the setting. obviously 4mm is too large on a stock set up, especially since you have no boost controller.
Check your cables. you might of disconnected it from from the sensors under your intake. Just follow the line that comes from the back of the turbo, (near the intake, should be a green line) and make sure its connected good from the turbo to the siloniod. After that, check the black line which goes connected to the the waste gate to the siloniod. make sure they are properly connected and not loose. You might want to zip tie all your lines while you at it. usually, when you boost goes out the meter, it might be that your lines got disconnected from the waste to the t urbo somewhere. Or that you need a boost controller. If it continues to happen, a good way to test it is connecting the waste gate directly to your turbo. Simple disconnect the green line from the turbo and connect it on the waste gate. If it still spikes, then most likely its your waste gate. If it holds and doesnt spike up past 20, then one of your lines must be out of place,.
