hello everyone, i am hopefully in the process of selling my explorer sport since it only gets 10 mpg.
i have heard of srt-4s selling for 13-14k used but havent had that confirmed. i am looking for a completely stock (even radio if possible) without a sunroof, any color, its going to be a college car so it will get the crap beat out of it but i want to know how muc i am looking at. thanks

 

Maybe a 2003 model would be around that price range, but im not really sure. But i havent seen or heard of 13-14k's on a earlier model

 

I don't know why you'd want an SRT-4 as a college car. But yeah, you could probably find an 03, or middle mileage 04 for that price. Though buying these cars used isnt always the smartest decision....neither is buying any car used, especially a standard, without prior notification of all the warranty repairs and additions the vehicle may have done to it.

 

what would you suggest then? i want something fun to drive thats reliable.

 

Preferably you'd want to find one for sale by owner, so you can judge from talking with him/her how they treated the car. That might be tough to find, though, depending on your location.

 

most srt's are going for 15-16k, 03 and 04's. this isn't really much of a beater car, so i'm not sure what your purpose is in buying one. you might want to re-think about your choice in cars. if this is only a communter car that's going to get the crap beat out of it why not look at something like a jetta or a golf?
