Launching suggestions, tips, tricks, advice for Stage 2'd cars... I finally got the HOM working (which has made 1st and 2nd gear worthless under WOT conditions )... so how the heck do you suggest launching this car?? OEM tires on the street... I haven't really tried it yet... but I'm open to some advice from fellow S2 w/toys owners (or former owners - GLHS, PSI, etc.) Thoughts?? I have a little yellow 01 Cobra I would like to beat, but massive tire spin isn't going to get me ahead of him ha-ha...

 

Feather the clutch at launch. I start to let it out around 2000 rpm's, and slip it from there. A little wheelspin is okay; actually, my best runs have come with minor skipping (kind of like being on the edge of slipping) almost all the way down the track. I launch in DAB 3, on street tires, but it took a lot of practice to get it perfect; DAB 2 is much easier, and usually faster (unless you get it close to perfect).

 

on the track, i launch at 1500-2000, fluttering the clutch, to control the tq convertion. shift at 3500 to 2nd. power shift at 4800-5000k to 3rd; 6100k all the way home.

My best time Sat. 9 Jul, was 13.7 @ 102.568
(and that with the boost leak i still have mentioned before)

All you have to do is race that cobra from 60mph up to 130mph. Thats what I did and pulled the guy twice by something like 10 car lengths. We are talking about the model years before the cobra was blown right?

 

that is correct, the 01's are not blown, just 4 valve 4.6 L's with IRS in the back end. However, no offense. I don't consider a rolling race much of a race, nor do I consider 60-130mph a fair race (just me, others may disagree). On that note as well, that would be around 3rd gear for his car - - that is a very strong gear in those cars! I repeat, in his car, it's a wonder gear!!! ;-)
