august motor trend...
Anybody read in the letters to MT this month? Two srt4 owners wrote to MT about the srt4 ET times and said they were completely diff. then the originals and that the cobalts somehow ended up being better was wrong. Their comment being that they were adjusted on theory of weather conditions on a scientific level. The other guy wrote how can you guys lie to cobalt owners like that? And that he felt sorry for any Cobalt that pulled up next to him and got beat b/c Motor Trend said the cobalt wouldwin. Their answer was they didnt read the article correctly....HUH? The ET 0-100 times say it all as well as their reviews they said the numbers were tested as is for that particular vehicle. And as a smack in the face to all SRT owners they said they still favored the cobalt.
Yeah there was a thread about it. Pretty funny though. Whats even better is the response that mt had to the comments, and the humor that followed. Read on:

Okay, lets play "Break it down!!!!!!"
1. We apply a weather correction to all our numbers, so you can compare the numbers generated on different days and in different places.
2. Quarter-mile times and speeds are corrected using actual experimental results obtained in environmental test cells.
3. Then the acceleration times are corrected with a math formula based on those correction factors.
4. Rarely, when the trap speed corrects to an even 10-mile increment, an anomaly occurs, which we manually adjust.
5. We missed that step in this case. The ET trumps the 100-mph time.
Okay, time for analysis.
1. Since ALL times get correction, there are NEVER any real times displayed.
2. In addition to the weather correction, there's this correction, which I'd be really interested in. Test cell time aint cheap. Even for relaitively small cells, which you could NOT fit a car into.
And how many corrections can you add before your original data gets lost?
3. What, yet another correction, using math?. Did the other ones use math also? Or just dart boards?
4. Since evidently even all of this STILL couldn't get the SS a win, we "manually adjusted" the numbers.
10 points and one free pass from Seeley to the first one who can find and post the Dilbert about "Massaging the numbers"

That was hilarious....LOL

Motor Trend will basicly blow anyone if you throw enough "ADVERTISMENT" cash at em.
I mean they must have those stupid red ball ads plastered all over that ****ty mag.
..... anyways I'm glad they were paid by "GM" to building up the slowbalt's, it will just be that much funnier when the Slowbalts think they are going to step to the SRT4's and get thier ***** handed to 'em.
I dont usualy pay attention to rags like motor fend anyhow. [8D]
