Boost guage quest?
Im thinking of replacing the boost gauge. I think its not reading properly/accurately. My question is, is it the standard 52mm/2"? & is it electrical, mechanical or vacuum? I looked under the service manual and all it has is the removal & installation of the guage.

I replaced mine with the 30psi unit from Autometer (the one with warning & peak boost memory). The stock unit uses a vacuum/boost line that runs through the firewall and plugs onto the Vacuum Canister for the Power Brakes. The unit I used has a MAP sensor, which I just wired in and plugged into the stock vacuum/boost line.
On a side note, I pulled the line off the brake booster (capping the nipple there) and added a T to lines coming off of the throttle body. This allowed me to put a check valve in the line to the brake booster, preventing the line from being blown off under heavy boost.

I gave up on the Auto Meter piece of crap. I bought a vac/boost gauge from Faze. I has an controller so you can change the color of the backlight. I really like it. It was cheaper by ten bucks too. It fits right in no problem.....it's the same vacuum mechanical as factory.

Well for starters, it's accurate.
(My stock guage read about 2psi high, it read just under 2psi with the car off.)
Also the Peak Boost memory and Boost Warning light features are nice.
