" I can hear it over my 11,000 rpm banshee wail that only a big Kawi with a race pipe can make."

Ive got an 87 zl1000 eliminator, know the sound well (although mines on supertrapps). it is sitting idol this year because back problems and other priorities....mainly the 66 stang (engine building phase $$$). I used to mod my old 89 5.0 take it out for the seat of the pants gratification then hop on the skoot grab a handfull on the bike and say "why did i waste my time and money on the car"

Yeah I still got my '85 Ninja with the '87 engine in it sitting in my barn. Makes me sick to go look at it. Last rode it about 4 years ago. It was having problems with ignition and carburetion when I put it up. I am the sole owner. Bought it new off the showroom floor in Florida when I was in the military down there. Lots of good memories. Had a '90 5.0 Stang convertible too. It was ok. It was stock and an automatic so not very fast. I traded it in for a '95 Neon w/a 5 speed and never looked back. Probably the only Ford I will ever own. The motorcycle reminds me of a new Win/Loss category; Worst win, That's how I got the 1000 engine. I blew my 900 engine passing my buddy on his then brand new FJ 1200 on a top gear, top end roll on coming down the mountain from Blue Diamond pass South of Las Vegas. We rolled on and my buddies skinny little 140 lb butt on his 1200 started walking away from me from about 60 mph to about 6-7 bike lengths. By the time my bike got "up on the pipe" at about 7000 rpm I had locked in on him and was starting to reel him in. I finally caught him at about 130 mph and was going by turning about 8500 r's when boom! my engine blew. To quantify this, I weighed 200 lbs and He weighed 140. He was on a new, stock FJ 1200. At that time the roll on king of bikes. My bike was not stock as I had a header, filters and jet kit. But it was only a 900 and it was about 5 years old at that time. It had 48,000 miles on it and it saw redline many times a day every day of its life. to say that it was rode hard would be an understatment. Well then I parked the bike for about 2 years 'till I came across a good donor bike with a 1000 engine. I transferred all my power goodies to the 1000 and stuck it in my 900 and rode it for several more years and now have about 65,000 on the chassis. I still think I may get it running again. I know what you saying though. There aint nothing like an ol crotch rocket for cheap speed. My whole bike cost 4400 bucks- brand new. Would go 11's in the Qtr and 160's top end.
Did get my Srt to the track this weekend. Made 3 runs, lost all 3. First run ever with this car ran against a Grand National w/many mods. I treed the kid but he caught me by second gear and slowly walked away all the way down (I ran 14.79 @ 96). 2nd run against a nice, high dollar, built small block S-10 truck. He treed me, ran away doing a 13.60 to my 14.10 @ 96. 3rd run during brackets against a late model Trans Am. The guy before me oiled the starting line, they tried to fix it. The Trans Am was bagging bad only dialing a mid 15. I set my dial to 14.00 thinking I am going to get faster as the air cools off. Well his lights went down and he cut a .503 rt and I'm waiting, and waiting, finally, I get to go, I cut a crappy light and proceeded to blow the front tires right off, repeatedly, No traction what-so-ever. I was pissed! Gave up on 1st gear, short shifted to 2nd and still ran a 14.79 again but at 98mph. Hmmmm? My rt's were 2) .7's and 1) .8. Not so good. My best 60 ft was the second run w/a 2.22 . All in all, I was happy with the 14.10. It was hot and gusty. So I'm sure my cars got a 13.9 in it and it is still stage 0.

That's just the point, any car can be made fast. You can get a Pinto and make it an 8 second street car, it's all a matter of money.

I saw a black SRT-10 Ram last sunday right around the street from me at a little breakfast diner, I was very shocked to see it there.
