Default Questions about some common mods.

Hey Everyone,

I'm getting ready for a few mods this weekend. I'm going with the K&N Typhoon CAI, Mopar Borla Exhaust, MSD wires and NGK Iridium plugs. As of now my 04 is stock w/ 26,000 miles and absolutely no problems. I put it thru the wringer in L.A. traffic everyday, plenty of boost, lots of stop and go and I love it more everyday. My concerns are as follows:

1. Is the infamous grommet on the CAI still an issue? How easily is it sucked in? Is there a way to avoid this by securing it with some kind of adhesive? What about this "sucking" elbow I've read about? I plan to install stage one as soon as it is delivered and leave the ride at that. Will the Typhoon still be suitable at this point?

2. At the end of the month I will be moving from this armpit of a metropolis to northwest Idaho. I am concerned about condensation build up on the filtercharger, Is the drycharger cover effective or counterproductive? The srt will be garaged for the truly foul weather, but I do want to take advantage of the cold air in the coming months, any tips besides not running thru deep puddles when I'm out in rain or wet weather with the full CAI set up?

3. Stock plug gap is .50, will .45 yield any benifits?

My pops is a mechanic, he'll be helping me with the installs (actually, I'll be helping him by handing him the tools!). Any tips for us on the install and me on the cold, wet weather I'm about to encounter are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

1. Can't help on the first part. The elbow is not a problem until you get a stage 3. I think.

2. I use the dry charger with no ill effects. just watch the puddles, and if the weather is too bad, convert it to a short ram.

3. Buy Densos and leave them at the stock gap. I don't think you are suposed to adjust the gap on iridiums.
