driving my car to school i noticed the oil pressure light started to go on and off like crazy. every time i brake or im on a downhill slope (not steep just a slight downhill) it will go on and then go off and back on evrry 2 seconds.

i checked the oil. it is slightly over the dipstick reading. accidently over filled it but either way its full so thats not the problem. car runs great with no problems. i floored it for a good 10 seconds on my way home from work (i know not a good idea but there was a reason behind it as i did not want to floor it... lets just say it was an emergency lol). but after i did that it flashed on again while i was coasting and went off, and repeated. it then did that the rest of the way home.

bad sensor? failing pump? clogged oil filter?
temperature outside around here is 5-35 degrees and im using full synthetic 5W-30.

lat oil change was about 2750 miles ago.

 

It sounds like the pump is struggling to get oil.

An oil change sounds like a good start.
