Gas Question

let's clear up what's written on the speedo.....
it says "performance vehicle operations" this is what is now called SRT (as in the guys that built your car). they changed their name over to SRT about a year ago. before that they were known as PVO (performance vehicle operations). get it? that's why some of us old schoolers have PVO written on our cars (take a look at the decals on my wing). does this clear up the confusion?
i still would NEVER put anything less than 91 in my car. ever. it's not even an option. long-term limp mode is not a good thing, and will cause issues over time. there's a reason it says everywhere on the car that it must use premium gas, not just to make the gas companies rich.

ANYWAY PSI CHICK KNOWS WHAT SHE IS TALKING ABOUT "OOPS FORGOT CAPS. LOCK"[:-]
The engine compression does stay at 9:1, but boost is like putting in a stroker crank, you make it more supceptible to detonating. the only real big difference between the two is a stroker motor is under alot of stress from high compression all the time were a turbo equiped motor is only when ya mass the gas and give it boost. If your modded ya better be running 91+ oct. Realy when's the last time you seen a stock turbo car get well over 100-120,000 mile's before the turbo or engine need serious fixing or replacement. Especailly if a kid's driving it. I've known of maybe 5 cars that have made it longer And read your owner's manual you can safely run good quaity 88 oct in the car that's what the computer is for. if it was running a carb you would have to retard timing. Last time i check we were driving a highly advanced car not a model T. Not saying most aren't finally learning not to keep it pegged to the floor and giving the turbo a proper cool down. the 165, 75 compression #'s tell you how good of shape the motor is interna (basicly how well the ring's and valves are sealing). That's all a compression test is for. I wouldn't realy call ya old school (maybe in term's of turbo equipped) otherwise ya would be running a car with a 392 hemi this is old school.
take a look at any of the old turbo shelby's. the majority have well over 100k on them and run just fine.
i'm really not going to argue this with you anymore, it's just not worth it. i try to make it a point to stop the spread of misinformation, but yous is just to ingrained.
