Default clutch ticking/chatter is this normal??

i bought my car in fall with the clutch completly fine with no noise except the chatter. (still works properly as it should)

when the temperatures dropped the ticking began. the colder it got the more loud the ticking got. it started off slightly ticking and going away when warm. then got worse and worse and eventually never went away even when warm!

when we got a really warm day about 55 degrees it was a lot more quiet and went away when it was fully warmed up. is this normal? does your clutch "tick" when cold outside?

A ticking/"slapping" sound that is audible when the engine is cold and goes away when warm is usually piston slap. It is the result of the internal engine wearing.

so you think its my engine? becuase this is an aftermarket clutch and has been "ticking" for months now and i still floor it every now and then with no problems... atleast for now?

if it IS the clutch what do you think it could be? the engine was rebuilt not even 10k miles ago but i wouldnt completly doubt your opinion.

the sound used to go away when warm now its so cold out it stil is always there. when its above 50 degrees out it will go away when warm and when its even warmer i wont here it even when i start it up from a cold start.

If it was something to do with the clutch, I'd say throw-out bearing. I've just never heard of a clutch ticking.

Exactly. I have never heard of a clutch "ticking" either until a couple of my friends said their cars ticked too when it got cold out (both manual). Although none of them ticked as severe as mine.

Has the clutch/throw-out bearing ever been replaced? Was it done along with the engine?
