If you want to hear the horse laughing, just pull of the top of your airbox, you'll see what they are talking about - sounds cool, IMO.

 

Im getting flutter until full WOT, hard acceleration and it flutters really loud and fast. But Ive been told its okay.

 

you should only hear flutter when you let off the gas and are decelerating. when you're accelerating, the turbo should be spooling and should not flutter at all. now if you're accelerating and don't reach positive boost then you very well may hear some flutter, but once you hit boost it should not be present.

You certainly can - it sounds pretty cool. Won't net you any improvement in performance, though - might possibly lose you a little due to heat entering what is a stock cold air system. It is one of those things that is fun to try for kicks. Your filter is a conical filter and doesn't need a lid to keep the dirt out, just to keep the heat out.

It is also a decent idea to pull the lid off the box if you haven't, to see why people always preach about catch cans and such, as there will be a good bit of oil in there from the crankcase vent.(Which, BTW is fine if you run the stock intake, since it is outside of the airstream and not internal)

 

Be advised that the lid does help to secure the filter in place. It may be cool to try once, but I'd keep it on for the day to day grind.

Same here, and I have positive boost. I have no clue what it could be, any suggestions.
