3 Dealers later....I was right. Turbo's gone
Ahhhh yes but it does!! Im just not used to driving it hard...I never have. There wasnt any oil buildup or anything, so Im just thinking it was a bad one from the get-go.
We'll see how he acts once I get him back.....hopefully he's an entirely new animal.

I can't believe you blew the turbo in that car. You drive like a little old lady!!!!! LOL
Not that this may have caused it, but you have had severall different types/brands of oil in that puppy. Find one you like and stick with it. I've had five turbo cars in my lifetime, never blew a turbo up. Always used Mobil 1.

Crystal,
Could the turbo issue be in any way related to your accident?? You smacked up the Neon awhile back right?? though not directly related, massive vibration and hitting things can cause unseen damage...
just a thought...??

Paul, I've had Elf 5w-40 in there for the past 3 changes....one change of Royal Purple, and the ones before were all Mobil 1, whether it be 5w-30 or 0w-20 for the winter.
I have seen a few turbos blown on SRT-4s, only these were blown to the point of no revival, most often at tracks and not around the new england area. I dont think the accident had anything to do with it, Im a year removed from that situation.....and the car drove perfect afterwards. Though they do say it takes time for these things to show up.
I told the dealer about the accident, I showed them the pictures of the accident and everything. Im 100% honest wherever I go, just as I want them to be honest to me. I cant lie to someone and then expect them to treat me with respect it doesnt work that way in my book. Call me crazy but I took a big risk. And they respected my honesty and took me in even though its the third dealer this babys been to.
He should be back tomorrow, or Wednesday at the latest. I went out today and bought a new conical filter for my air intake because that one was hurting, and tomorrow Ill put my grounding wires in while the turbos out and I can get back there freely with no manifold in the way. YAY!
Coolest part is they let me use their lifts and such when I need to do something to the car. *sigh* [&o] Hopefully he'll be back tomorrow
Well good for you Lil Spark! Yeah, the last turbo I did was on a power company boom truck. It was only like a year old, not real high miles either. The impeller hadn't actually started contacting the housing so it looked fine, but it turned hard and had oil leaking from the housing behind the impeller. The power co. has thier own mechs and usually takes good care of thier trucks. They brought it to us for a low power complaint. We do the warranty stuff since we're a dealership. I was surprised to find it was the turbo on that truck too, but that's not all that uncommon. Sometimes they die slowly and for no obvious reason.
I do not think your exhaust change had anything to do with it. I would suspect a manufacturing defect first and most likely with only a very slim possibility that it was oil related. You can keep running Mobil 1 in the car and certainly not feel bad about it. It's a sure, safe bet. It's also one of the least expensive.
Psi Chick; yeah I got the whole Da plane! Da plane! thing, I just kind of got into my own little world and failed to acknowledge the reference, but I can't say I didn't see the potential humor :-D

I always let him cool down too. Easy driving for 5-10 minutes or just idling for a bit. Poor thing.
Well heres how he looked yesterday....he didnt have the battery in him except to put him on accessory so hes easier to move and operate windows and such.
Today the new turbos in the car. But its not finished yet. Tomorrow at noon he comes home. I cant wait....
