Just test drove an '06 Mustang GT...
This morning the wiff was talking about how much she liked the look of the new Mustang - all I needed to hear. I was out the door and before I knew it, behind the wheel of a five-speed model.
My last 'Stang was an '01 GT that was stock except for exhaust. Fairly quick but it didn't take long to get bored w/ it. The final straw was a rebuild @ 28K miles due to a lower end flaw. 500 miles later it needed another. Bye-Bye Ford.
To get right down to it, I was underwhelmed. It cornered fairly quick and flat but it just seemed like a big car. It was quick enough but not jaw-dropping. In fact, it felt a lot like my '01 though the car mag guys say it's a quite a bit different. I'm no road racer but that was my impression.
I'm no SRT fanboy - I'm really not. If I liked the Ford better I would've bought it and not looked back. Truth is, when I got in my car to leave I honestly felt that I enjoyed driving it more.
I did, however, plan to put a deposit on the new SVT (450 hp version) until the bitch-*** salesman told me I could have it in 8 - 12 weeks. Damn car is an '07... no possible way it'll be available that soon. Nothing worse than a lot lizard trying to make quota. [:@]
