Another Catchcan question
Man I am confused. I think the confusion is in the the CAI vs the stock intake and the flow of the tubing into the catch can.
I have the stock intake so I believe to hook up the catch can is much easier....
So three questions:
1. Is my below understanding of connection correct??
A. The line that is in question runs from the PCV valve to the intake manifold presently in the stock set up.
B. The catch can is simply put in between this line to catch the oil.
C. You want to mount the catch can at a lower level then the PCV and the intake if possible.
2. This write up was taken from 71roadrunner on 6/2004.
This makes sense and seems easy enough...has anything changed since this post can someone confirm that this is correct?
The routing of the hoses for the $20 OCC is up to the person who installs it. You can install it on either the PCV side or the intake manifold side, the choice is yours, I put mine on the PCV side. If you put it on the PCV side you will simply be removing the short 2"-3" long section of hose that connects the PCV valve to the hard plastic line that goes under the intake manifold and over to the other side where it is connected to the intake manifold. You find the spot where you want to mount your OCC. You then attach a hose to the PCV valve and route it into the OCC on it's inlet side, it will have an arrow on it showing it's direction of flow. Then you attach another hose from the outlet side of the OCC and route it into the hard plastic line that the short hose you removed was attached to. Secure everything and your done. You can mount your OCC anywhere that is safe and easy to access and route your hoses any way you like, as long as they are free and clear of any moving parts and not in a place where they may be pinched or kinked when the hood is closed.
3. I am thinking about getting the Greddy catch can from Modern Performance. It appears that it will fit if vertically mounted behind the PCV on the passenger side by coolant platic flowover. Or in front of the engine near the front of the car frame somewhere. Is this correct? Or is it bigger then it appears?
4. There is one from weapon R. that is lowercost and appears smaller and more convient for mounting has anyone used this or any suggestions on other catch cans other then the homedepot version.
4. The hose that Greddy provides from Modern Performance - I have read- is weak so what should I get instead?
Thanks for the help just too much information scattered all about on this subject and trying to get confirmation and advice from the pros before I do something stupid and useless!!!

1. yes
2. that's correct
3. if it's the round greddy catch can then you should know that it's been nick named the exxon valdez. it's HUGE. not easy to mount. the older style square one is a lot better.
4. it's ok. people use it, it works.
5. fuel line hose or oil lines if you can find it.
