My cousin wants blacklight underglow for his '95ish (???) Talon, I can't find underglow that is actual black light. . . .anyone have any suggestions or know where I can find the real think

 

It's 100% illegal to put black lights on the bottom of a car.

They do not sell this in any store or catalog that I know of.

will black light even be bright enough to see? and is there anything that it would effect,you know make that cool glow?

 

it'd probably be easier to get away with, since the light output is out of our visible spectrum, for the most part, and wouldn't glow like neons, unless it reacts with a material of the right color and makeup. It would be less blingy and more cool, IMO. Personally, I am not into underbody lighting and stuff like that - but blacklight could look sharp. You could highlight all kinds of graphics and effects, too, using it.

 

i love it on the inside of a car.i was just trying to think if there is anything on the road that would glow.i think it'd be sweet on the outside too if it would work on the lines on the road or something.

 

it would probably make glow the lines on the road. they use a metallic flake paint for that. the white especially would probably light up....

 

All neons are not illegal..... provided that your state says so. Most states will allow certain colors and will even allow for you to drive around with them on....but most states require they be off while your car is in motion.

You can have any color neon on your car, but if you are riding around with Red/Blue you most likely will get picked on.

Black Lights are illegal because they can play tricks on the eyes as far as what they can see.....similar to what posthondaremoval stated.....

Honestly, I doubt very much you will find a kit for a car. You're best bet would be to buy a decent kit, gut the normal neons from within, go to a local Spencers or weird shop that sells neons....and modify it so it will work....

That way you get the casing around the tubes and you can still bolt it up.

 

neons ARE illegal in most states. not all neons, but usually certain colors. they also like to restrict the flashing or other movement.

in ny, the only legal color is white. everything else will get you a ticket. also, the tubes cannot be visable from the side of the car (not that this is a problem anymore with led kits).

if you have red or blue it is very illegal, in all states as far as i know. red and blue are police colors and are reserved for such. even here where they couldn't give a crap about what you do to your car they will bust you for red or blue.

 

Neons are legal to have on your car and legal to have turned on or in your car. Most states however list them as being illegal if your car is in motion or if the bulbs are visible. They will also tend to pull you over for neons on the interior of the car being visible or too high up in the car.....In essence....being parked and having the neons on should NOT get you a ticket, but driving on the highway can and will get you ticketed.....

Some states have strict laws like NY, others are more lax..... Alot of states will let you slide on riding around provided they arent red or blue like PSIChick said....

I would definitely make sure that you know the rules regarding them, as some cops will ticket you just for having them on while you are in the car....again....it all depends on where you live....

Bottom line here is this....find out as much info on your laws in regard to neons as you can before you even consider it....
