Pressure building up
You know Lil Spark, I know you may like doing paint and body, but with your auto knowledge and magnetic personality, I think you'd make a hell of a salesperson (if you wanted to). They can make some serious money.
Ya'll wanna hear what a car salesman told me just today? I was down at the dealer looking at the Hemi's, specifically the new Magnum SRT-8 (over $42,000 BTW) and before I got to the SRT-8, I was looking at a Charger R/T. The salesman said the R/T has 50 more hp. Up from the regular hemi's 340 to 350. So I'm looking at this idiot as he's still talking, expecting him to catch his verbal faux pas at any time and he just keeps on rattling. Unaware? or a verbal slip mind game? I had to wonder If was really that dumb or just trying to be really smart. Well I caught it and all he said after that went in one ear and out the other as my lack of respect for him had already tripped the mental dump valve. BTW, I aint buying no SRT-8 anytime soon. Too much $$$$!
They did get the engine cosmetics fixed though. Gone is the big stupid plastic cover that covers the whole engine. Now you can see the engine and the block is painted Hemi Orange! How cool is that? The Hemi looks the part now. Very nice.

I did sell cars...for a short period of time. Here were the problems:
1. Men HATED the fact that they were asking a young woman about a truck that she knew more about than they did. Didn't matter that they wanted to know more about it so they could buy it, it just mattered that a chick knew more than them, and that pissed them off.
2. I can't lie. "Has this been in an accident?" Absolutely. As much as you love the Denali, its been T-boned. I won't lie. However the woman did buy a new car off of me for her son, due to my honesty, so that one worked out.
3. I hate stupid people. And dealerships are full of them. You always have:
a. The guy who's been there since the place was erected
b. The **** salesguy who's numbers are always at the top.
c. The really old guy who's friends buy and trade cars monthly, not yearly
d. The new guy who claims to know everything about the "sporty" line of cars/sporty car that the line offers.
And you can pretty much figure the rest of the people that are there as well. For the most part, very stupid people with even an extreme lack of common sense, throwing all last hope of intelligence aside. They know everything, they're always right, anything they're selling you is the best vehicle in the world.
And many many other reasons why I wasn't successful there, which I won't really get into here. Being the youngest (at 18), and the smartest, even the girls in the office ****ing hated me. I gained two good things from working at that ****hole, one was my car, the other was a really good friend, Paul.
I'd make a far better Service Manager

You know what, you're right on. You've just described just about every dealership I've been too! And the part about your being a smart girl and guys not wanting to be shown up is again right on. I didn't even think of that but I know it's true. Unfortunate though. Us men have such sensitive little egos. Well, you're smart, there's no doubt about that, you'll be a success at whatever you choose. I'm sure. Paint & body or whatever.
I have to say that when I bought my car through the dealership it was a definate stress free prcoess. I had stopped by before going into work to check out the ACR without the viper seats just to decide which one to go with. The salesman asked me if I wanted to take it for a ride and off we went. During the drive process he didn't waste time trying to impress me with the options on the car because he told me off the bat that he didn't know too much about the srt-4 neons except that they were fun as hell to drive. We chatted for a bit and started to work out the numbers. my goal was to find out if they would honor the 1000 bonus cash back option that dodge was offering on the car...if I came back 2 days later to close the deal. We worked out a deal and the final price and then moved on to the "finance process" I wasn't too happy about the interest rates they were coming up with, until my salesperson asked me if Iw as part of a credit union (which I am) and then tells me that they are affiliated with them and and could process the loan right there from my credit union. Now this was the route i figured I was going to end up anyway, but to hear this suggested from the sales guy was impressive. I got the deal I wanted. Next step I hope their maintenance dept can keep up with the same caliber of service. (we'll find out soon)
There are good dealers out there....you just have to look REAL hard for em. I'll tell you hands down that this dodge dealer was about 12X's better than the last 3 hyundai dealers that I have dealt with. I brought my little hyundai into one dealer to have the radiator replaced after slidding into a truck hitch and they proceeded to change out my battery and call me up telling me my battery was all done and good to go. When asked about the radiator they where like "didn't you bring the car in for a battery change?" I said no, I wrote on the sheet I had a broken radiator mount and needed to have it replaced. When I picked up my car I asked them if they had to change out the radiator or where they able to just replace the bracket. Naturally, they tell me nope...had to change out the whole thing with a new one. Well after I get home and take a look....my radiator still had the trailer hitch ball mark imprinted in it....
Nice place eh?
It's shame Lil that you no longer work @ the dealer. I for one would love to talk to a girl who knows her stuff. It was much better than dealing with the 2 female service managers at this dealership who knew nothing.
