Default Is a Pyrometer needle supposed to be setting on # 13?

I just received an Auto Meter Pyrometer Pro Comp Ultra Lite Model # 4344/With Probe. I ordered from a reputable Company, (Don’t Ask) but the needle is resting on just about number 13!
Without opening the box, as I do not want to be accused of tampering with it before I send the Item back. Is the needle supposed to be setting on 13?
Can you reset the needle on these or what? I would not believe they would send me a bogus gauge right off the get go without looking it over would you?
I am frustrated with this kind of crap, as this would have completed my triple A Pillar pod setup I have been saving & putting together slowly!

Anything I can do with this, any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Kevin

The needle's not gonna move until you hook it up... i.e. there's no force moving it to 0, so it was probably just constructed that way and will move once it gets hooked up.

I would hook it up first, if it then continues to rest at 13 when off, and is erratic when on, I would return it back to the company. If it operates normally after having a line hooked up to it, then keep it.

But every gauge I've ever seen, at shops, in cars, and online is always set at 0. And with any type of calibrated system (tachometer, speedo, fuel, temp, boost, etc) never remove the needle and put it where it "belongs". It screws everything up in the long run and its just not worth it.
