I hear ya, Gump. But almost everyone says that you cannot run them on a 17x7 wheel. Maybe they mean because mine is lower or something. I dunno. Man,,,,it is so freaking confusing. I'll tell you this, though. I'm going to try it. I'm going to put 235's on it. What have I got to lose? If they won't work, I'll go to a 225. I'll be putting them on in about a month and I'll let you know.
I am running BFG KDW 245/40R17's on 5Zigen 17x8 35mm offset wheels. With the stock suspension there is no rubbing. With the Hotchkis springs, the passenger front would rub occassionally. You don't need coil-overs to run this size tire with a 17x8 35mm.
i have some flick rims 17x8 with a 35mm offset.. i had a 225/417 on them the tires fit the rims but the rims were wider than the tires. they fit but i didnt like the look of the rims sticking out that far.
The thing with a 235 on a 6" or 7" wheel is that the tire is too wide for the rim itself. It causes the sidewall to overlap and if you hit a bump too hard, the bead could break causing the tire to rupture. 215 on a 6" rim is even pushing it.
That's right. If you want a wider tire you should get wider wheels. Anything wider than a 215 should go on either a 6.5" or 7" wide wheel, it's a matter of safety.
I got them because my uncle has a tire shop and they were the only snow tires that he could find to fit my wheels. They said that they stock rims were 7" wide....?....I am confused.....are they only 6" because they measured them when mounting them and said they were 7"??????
