need some serious advice
well i hate to say it but i went ahead and went to a totally seperate exhaust shop and had custom 2.5inch ehaust and the gauge started functioning correctly thats pretty weird huh.. im spiking at 14 and holding 13 weather is about 40 degrees
I still value your input Amy...
actually, to highjack the thread for a second... what suspension mods are running if any?? if you want, you can PM so I don't tie this thing up...
sorry, back to the boost problem...

I dont see how a small exhaust leak would hinder the boost. Matter of fact, when we ran the srt open pipe it actually responded faster, a tiny bit stronger till redline and much much louder:P... I would agree with Amy but its weird, did the place that did your exhaust do crush bends or mandrel ? If they did crush then its likely that you are making too much back-pressure and thats why your needle is sort of working better.... but really you are harming the car more than anything if its crush bends.....DUDE check your leaks these cars are notorious for that. check, recheck, and keep rechecking!!!!! We have to check our lines every other week. KEEP CHECKING.
thats what im trying to tell you psi they didnt do anything to my car when i got it back it was still doing the same thing they said there was nothing they could do other than put on different exaust i left there the car was still doing the same thing and i went to an exaust shop totally seperate and had them put on custom exaust afterwards everything was perfect so no boost leak was touched in fact there was no boost leak at all the tech was right too much air in not enough out= better exaust
Too much back pressure makes sense, but with stock exhaust its supposed to run fine.. Hell we've ran 19psi HOLDING on the srt with stock-o ! So thats a first i hear with that. How much did the exhaust cost?
And the new exhaust fixed the vibrating boost guage issue? There must be more to the story, because changing your exhaust after the turbo should not change your boost pressure at all. Hmmmmmmm[sm=dontgetit.gif]
if the exhaust was leaking, then putting on a new exhaust would fix the leak. get it? there's plenty of places for boost to sneak out of pipes on these cars. throwing parts at a problem doesn't fix it, it just puts a band-aid on it.
and telling you that the stock exhaust is too restrictive and causing the boost to fluctuate is the biggest piece of bs that i've heard in a long time. they were just trying to get you to spend money, which they succesfully did just not with them.
so congrats on your band-aid, see you in a month when it's leaking again. i swear i don't know how many times i can repeat myself. bueller....oh bueller.......
