yeah, i hate the srt-4, but i respect it, and the car isnt for me. Everyone in this town who has an SRT-4 are so cocky. I think its more of the SRT-4 DRIVERS that i hate, and not so much the car. All the srt drivers here say "My cars an SRT, not a neon" which i dont understand how they dont see that it IS a neon, but the SRT version...just like the crossfire and the crossfire srt-6...they are both crossfires, one is just the SRT version...i dont see how that is so hard to understand

straightline power is cool i guess, but i love going around a curve at high speeds and feeling the car stick to the road. ever since i experienced that, im hooked on awd (mainly subaru) and i cant ever go back.

anyways, ill keep my opinion to myself, because i pissed alot of people off with that thread in OT.

merry christmas everybody!

well around the baltimore and anne arundel area i have realized that what you say might have meaning only because some of the guys and gals with srt-4's have a cocky attitude the one guy said he could beat mine with his eyes closed i have an 05 stock srt-4 and needless to say his mods must have hurt him because i beat him by a car and a half so some of them have attitudes and some dont

It really doesn't have anything to do with the SRT. It has to do with young people. Our car just happens to be a car that young people can afford. For the most part, young people have cockiness and attitude. They haven't been kicked in the ***** much and haven't been humbled by life. That will come, but it usually doesn't happen until your girlfriend leaves you for the guy at the gym, along with getting passed up for a few promotions by the young college guy. Once that stuff happens and you get a little older, then you start gaining a little wisdom. Wisdom and attitude just won't fit in the same closet. It really has nothing to do with cars. It's funny actually. The people who are always offended by the SRT drivers are usually young too, and they can't make the disconnection of the jerk guys from the cars they drive.

Therefore.....(insert dramatic music here)

The people who are offended become defensive. The offender picks up on their defensiveness. A circular pattern of destructive behavior begins. It spirals out of control and starts pulling each person further and further into a vortex of destructive behavior. And before you know it, they are just fragments of who they once were. They end up losing their jobs. They began to drink and use illegal drugs. They remove themeselves from their families and join a cult.

See? This is what happens when you bash on someone about their car.

There are all types of people in all types of cars and your gonna find cocky arrogant ****** behind the wheels of all of them at some point. The difference is that performance models, especially the more affordable ones, tend to draw that type of person more often which is why there are so many of them. It is also true that they are usually young, but there are exceptions to that as I have never felt the need to pull up next to someone and rev at them. Even when I got my license and my first car being a Roadrunner I never once have done that, but I have had it done to me more times than I can remember. This is why the Mustang community has such a bad wrap, most of their owners are young male hotheads that exhibit more than an abundance of this behavior. In my experience the majority of SRT-4 drivers are not like this, but that doesn't mean that there aren't alot that are.

Another thing that can be the root of their cocky attitude is the fact that with far less money they have a car that is or can easily be right up their with the high dollar cars performance and in some cases far more than their performance. That can tend to make one get a superority complex, much like those that buy the high dollar cars, but for both the same (performance) and opposite (price) reasons.

As far as the, "My cars an SRT, not a neon" goes, there are those that have a problem with the reality that that is what they are based on. This too is the reason why STi owners get mad if you call it an Imprezza or call an Evo a Lancer. They use to and still do make different and totally seperate models using the same basic car. The GTO is a Le Mans, the Roadrunner and GTX are Satellite Sebrings, the Trans Am is a Firebird, etc. This is just another of the same, where the manufacturer takes an existing model and makes it into something else entirely. There is something to be said for those models and they truely are something far removed from their base model. Next time you see a classic GTO tell the owner it's a nice looking Le Mans that he has and see how quickly he corrects you, provided it doesn't just **** him off. The SRT-4 has a completely different drivetrain, brakes, wheels & tires, exhaust, suspension, interior and exterior parts, etc., so in all reality it truely is another completely different car altogether. They are also the only Neon that does not have the Neon name anywhere on it at all, my '99 Neon R/T didn't have any Neon nameplates anywhere on the outside, just R/T badges, but it did have the Neon nameplate in one spot on the passenger side dash and that was it, but it did have it. A truely seperate model will have no name trace of the base models name anywhere on it. There are far fewer parts that the Neon and the SRT-4 have in common than the ones that are different.

I see that you have not checked into the handling of the SRT-4 judging by this statement since the SRT-4 out handles the WRX as well as straight line performance. Only the STi has better handling. The WRX only has the advantage off road or in the snow due to their AWD. There is a big misconception about the SRT-4 not handling well, but it is by far one of the better handling cars around and better than most others. Just another over looked fact due to it's well known straight line performance.

Well said. It always amazes me that so many folks use their car/truck as a substitute for actually accomplishing something in life. It's almost as though everyone is supposed to look at a hunk of metal and plastic and say "Woo, you're successful in life because you drive a **********.

I pick my rides based on what I want at that particular time/place. Times change and people change, that's why I've never owned the same vehicle more than once.......

Merry Christmas 71RoadRunner!!! See ya around!!!

i just stated that im not a fan of the srt-4 or most of the owners.

the problem with making them cheap is that now little teeny boppers can buy one and think their cars are the fastest. that is the main problem i have with srt-4 owners. Now, im not saying ALL SRT-4 drivers are like that, because i know thats not true, but all the ones in my area are. there is not ONE that is actually cool here, they are all cocky, and they all talk alot of **** about cars they know nothing about.

i DO like regular neons with an aftermarket turbo added onto it tho. my buddy has a 2000 neon with a turbo and a built motor, allowing him to run 26 psi, and he HATES srt owners, so he basically made it just to beat srt-4's.

anyways, im done ranting, yall have a merry christmas

Merry Christmas to you too dustyloins!!!

It seems as if your buddy with the Neon is envious of the SRT-4 owners. Then again I could be entirely wrong, but it makes absolutely no sense to have a Neon and be willing to put a good amount of money into it, yet hate another type of Neon that is everything he is trying to make his into just because of the owners. It all seems like envy since he is basically turning his Neon into a jacked up SRT-4, yet he cannot stand the SRT-4 owners. He will most likely wind up turning into exactly what he claims to hate only he will be worse since he will be even more cocky and arrogant than they are and he will act like them times 10.
