RE: 1st oil change
I've heard that before about the factory installed filter being a real pain to take off. Must have a big, strong dude at the assembley plant puttin' them on...
Hopefully you put synthetic oil in it, right???[sm=smiley4.gif]

RE: 1st oil change
They come from the factory with synthetic and my Dodge dealer as well as the service advisor told me to use it. In addition, your owner's manual says to use Mobil 1....

RE: 1st oil change
I can believe it. Boy, I hated being posted to guard a F-4 Phantom on the "hot pad" in the snow...no protection from the wind. Give me a defensive fire bunker or hole anytime...[&:]

Me too. My filter wrench was sliding but not turning the filter. It took me 2 hours to do a damn oil change. It was so tight down there could barely get my hand over the filter once I loosened it.
I bought one of those Pure One filters. I don't know if they are worth the extra $$$, anyone else tried one of those yet?
no I was told by my brother in law thats a mechanic that I shouldn't put synthetic in till after 15000 mi, so I put in castrol gtx
The rule on synthetic oil use is not to use it on a new or rebuilt motor until it reaches 5,000 miles, this gives the motor sufficient break-in and lets everything seat properly. However, there are exceptions to every rule, the SRT-4 as well as many other high end cars like the Viper and the Z06, come from the factory with synthetic oil, most of these high end cars come with Mobil 1. Older engines were built looser, but todays engines are built to alot tighter tolerances and can use synthetic oils right off. I highly recommend that you use what the factory says to use for at least the 1st 5,000 miles, wether it's conventional or synthetic oil. Most cars come with conventional motor oil and should NOT be switched over to synthetic oil until it has at least 5,000 miles on it, but I highly recommend switching to synthetic after 5,000 miles. It will give you better gas mileage as well as better performance and lower wear and operating temperatures. If you have a car with high mileage or one that leaks or burns oil, do NOT use synthetic as it will only make the leaks or oil burning worse and it may cause leaks in a high mileage engine(it may not but thats up to you).[sm=smiley20.gif]
