Default Rev limiter bad

I've bounced off of the dreaded fuel cutoff rev limit twice now. I plan to NEVER do this again because surely it can't be good. The first time was the initial drive off of the lot when first gear came to an end MUCH faster than expected. I told myself never again. Then the other night while I was monitoring boost (and obviously not my tach) cutout #2. I guess other than telling the world I'm a total idiot, I was wondering, have I just dramaticaly shortened the life of my car, or am I probaly OK as long as I don't make it a habit? Also, I just talked to my dealer about stage 2 and warranty, and he says he'll warranty it as long as he installs it (imagine that). He said that it'll run me about $200 for the install. Isn't that a little pricey?

Everybody always says, "get it in writting" that it wont affect the any part of the warranty... If toys installation is included $200 doesn't sound too bad, I don't personally what the install is really like though.

And hitting the rev limiter isn't that bad... Thats the reason why its there to begin with. I've hit mine a good handfull of times now, it's just going to happen once in awhile. It's not going to hurt anything at all directly. You don't want to sit there and hold the revs on the limiter or anywhere up that high for long periods of time is all. The stage kits raise the limiter slightly higher anyways. It's put in place so you don't cause any damage, don't worry about it.

So should I just install the Stage 2 myself? It's w/out toys because I'm not gonna go the 100 octane route and I plan to get an electronic boost controller(probably not a greddy because me and a friend installed one on his WRX and it was like trying to fine tune a Rubix Cube). It's just injectors and a new wastegate actuator isn't it? But then there's the whole warranty factor..........

And a new pcm. It is not very hard to install. The rev limiter is actually spark cut not fuel cut. You will be fine.
