Default Extrude Honing......

Anyone tried extrude honing on thier intake manifold? If so, what kind of a performance difference did you experience.

Haven't tried it, probably won't. I assume you're aware that work of that type will make future warranty claims a big question mark?

Actally I wasn't aware. I was under the impression that they probably couldn't tell it had even been done without removing the entire manifold and using a micrometer to compare the difference in size to stock specs (42mm vs 46mm I believe). I would have thought it would be a much better upgrade than say getting an aftermarket replacement manifold. There's also that good old OEM fittment you've already got going on. You really think warranty would be an issue? That would suck.

at about the time I think I am learning things, I hear a new term: Extrude honing.

A) Don't know what an extrude is

B) honing, I thought, was something you did with your skills.

I'm not a fan of Extrude Honing, while it can increase performance it is not the best option. Hand porting is a better option as it can remove more material in some areas, while leaving material in others. Extrude hone is fairly mindless, it does enlarge and smooth, but it doesn't always give the best profile. Hand or CNC porting is better.

Might want to read the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act before making a blanket statement like that. About all porting an intake will void is the warranty on the intake itself.

I'm well aware of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act sir, that's the reason I added the remark about the question mark. Warranty work is at the discretion of the individual dealer. In no way is my statement a "blanket statement". If you go back far enough in this section, you'll see this topic has been discussed in detail, many, many times by myself and others........

I didn't mean to create tension, nor was I aware of the fact that this had been previosly discussed in the forums (maybe I should try the search engine.....). All I am trying to do, besides learn as much as possible about my options, is make as much horsepower as I can while still maintaining the majority of my warranty. On a lighter note, that Mopar STS sure is short on the throws (and stiff as a board too. Man I hope this thing is just new and eventually "breaks in").

(Don't worry about the "tension" or checking past postings. Gary is a cool guy with lots of good products.....I've bought from him before.)

Did you get the booger shifter bushings? Even with them, it WILL be more stiff.........

You know,,,,about the shifting in our cars. My car, if I am honest, is not an easy car to shift. Getting from third to second is sometimes difficult, and getting to third from second isn't always easy. I have thought about a short throw shifter, but I don't really think that would help with the ease of getting it into gear. If the freaking thing would slide into the gears a little easier, I don't think I would even care about having an STS.
