Default Stage 1 w/stage 2 wg actuator....

I just purchased a stage 1 to tide me over for a while. I also purchased a stage 2 wg actuator as opposed to an AGP. Just seems to me better to avoid the PTB and comp surge issues. I would assume that the stage 2 provides much better drivability. It was much cheaper to boot. I guess my real question is will the stage 2 actuator give close to the same performance as the AGP? The AGP requires rerouting vac lines and all that. Does the stg 2 just directly replace the factory unit? I've read that you should preload it at 4mm. Would this reign true with stage 1? Just looking for an inexpensive pick me up for now until I can decide between stg 3 or big turbo. What kind of boost do I need to look for with this setup? Will also be getting an EBC in the mail real soon, but will definitely address the fuel issue before cranking past about 15psi or so. Thank you guys for all of your info!

With stage 1 you will be able to hold 15 psi at redline. With the EBC you will get the same performance out to the stage 2 wastegate as the AGP. With an EBC and AGP wastegate I boost to 18 falling to 15 and stay really really rich. Hope this helps.

As far as the install it should not require any rerouting of the vac lines but some of these stage 2 guys can chime in about that one.

So without the EBC I won't get as good of a performanc boost from the stg 2 actuator as I would an AGP? The stg 2 wg will still make a noticable difference over factory, correct?

hardest part was getting some of the heat shield bolts off other then that it was cake and came preloaded to 4mm.

I can't say for certain but I am sure the performance is close. Anything is better than the stock wastegate. Either way stg 2 or AGP wastegate + EBC = [sm=burnout.gif]

I have Stage 1 without a WGA and I damn near dont hold 15psi to redline. With an S2WGA without a boost controller youd be lucky to hold that as well.

On a stock fuel system you cant boost much over stock, or your risking ruining things. The S2WGA is capable of more boost than stock but without a boost controller, even a manual one, the difference will be minimal.

I have also read that after 18psi, the stock turbo cannot flow any more air, even if the boost exceeded 18 psi.

I would use the stage 2 WGA, set it to 6mm, and add a manual boost controller.

My my my you may have read my mind. Just wait and see whats in store for you!!!

Stock turbo wont flow past 19psi, neither will the intercooler.

I'm going with the greddy profec b spec II ebc (couldn't bring myself to shell out the cash for the e-01....maybe down the road.....) and on the stock fuel setup I don't plan holding more than 16, and that will be at the strip. I'm just looking for an inexpensive pick me up that won't harm things while I wait for the 3R/big turbo fund to grow a little more. Is stage 1 even going to make a noticable difference w/out the EBC? It won't be here for like another week or so. I should have stg 1 by friday(just in time for playday at the track.....too bad it's ONLY 1000 FT. I WANT FULL QUARTER! AHHHHHH!!!!!). Anyway, thank you guys for all the help.

Yes the Stage 1 will make a noticeable difference and ups spark knock from 18psi to 24psi.
