Default Boost Falloff

It seems this freakin' stg 2 WGA just doesn't want to cooperate. I've been adjusting and adjusting and on and on.........until finally, I feel that I've about got it right. So, I'm spiking about 18-19 and holding about 15...........UNTIL 5000 RPM!!!!!!! Then, away the needle falls and continues to fall until time to shift. I'm still on the stock fuel system w/ stg 1 so I'm afraid to adjust it back the other way (spiking 20+) so what do you think? Does it just need to be adjusted back one more 1/2 turn and ride out the 20+ spike until hopefully the ECM learns and adapts back, or do you think maybe it's a boost leak? I would think if it was a boost leak it would act up more than just at 5000 rpm. You think I just need to adjust back? Possible boost leak? I really want to get my car dialed in and in tip top shape because my EBC will be here tomorrow and I figure it would be better to get the WGA acting right BEFORE playing with a boost controller. Any help or suggestions you guys (and girls) could offer will be greatly appreciated!

If your going to be installing an EBC tommorow...I would turn the wastegate down to like 15 psi and use the EBC to take the boost up to were you want it. It is much easier to control that way.

With my setup, I have the wastegate spiking at 13-14 psi and holding 10. Then I use the EBC to take it up to were I want it. I found out it was easier to control that way and it is nice to cut the EBC off and not boost very high.

This is just my experience so you don't pull your hair out trying to tune the wastegate.

Does yours hold to redline, or falloff at like 5 grand? That's my biggest concern. I want it to hold whatever boost I set it at all the way to at least 5800 or so. Is that too much to ask? Would a boost controller help with the falloff? What kind of boost are you running with your set up?

With an EBC, especially the one that both he and I have, you have options of how fast you get there, how long its held there, start boost etc..... I hold 18/19 to redline. Probably not good, and I need to fix it, but Ill have Paul do that....hes home studying the manual right now.

I agree with rx8driver. Loosen the screw by another ½ turn, to make less boost before you install the EBC. You are almost there!
