Default Fresh start

I bought my srt about a month ago now. So far I have needed a new clutch, tires, front brakes, oil change(expected that). I only had to pay for the clutch job. Now i am thinking since its ovious that the owner before drove hard maybe i should start replacing other stuff. I have read to get rid of the stock plugs and wires because they get to hot and loose their spark. What else should I replace to make sure all the power is being fully available....maybe turbo, wastegate, coil, anything else?

How about going to the dyno to make sure i have all my power if it comes down to it.

I never would buy one of these cars used for that exact reason. Maybe the person had no clue how to drive a standard, or maybe they just beat the hell out of the poor little car, the wrong way.

Leave the coil alone, all the aftermarket coils only cause problems. Why would you replace the turbo? Dont replace something unless you WANT to upgrade it, or its actually broken.

The dyno is probably your best bet. Take it there and see what it does.

Exactly, I plan on buying one of these in a couple months here, either new or not at all IMO...[:'(]

Buying ANY performance car used is a gamble at best. At a minimum, have it checked out by a mechanic you trust and ask the owner (who is hopefully at least in their mid 20s) to show you receipts for oil changes or any work done to the car. People who really care about their car will usually keep these things. People who don't, usually won't.

I took it to dodge dealer that did my clutch(not the dodge dealer that i bought it from, they tried to screw me over with the whole clutch situation), i know the serive manager and he hooked me up. He did a complete inspection and the inspection came back fine...no problems he said so i feel pretty good about that. The service manager i know is so helpfull and ready to jump on any problem i have, so i quess i just take it back to them if i cant narrow something down myself.

The only way to tell if the turbo is bad, is to remove it from the car, so if he checked and said the turbo is fine, thats a line of BS. I know, I had my turbo checked by Dodge after the car had been burning oil out of the exhaust....excessive oil at that. They have to remove the turbo to measure the tolerances of the inpellar.

But you would know if the turbo was bad....trust me.
