Just changed my oil, and I don't know if this is related to that, but now my dome light is on and won't go off. Also, the mileage on the odometer is lit up. This is without the key on. My car is sitting, right now, without a key in it and the odometer light is lit up and the dome light won't go off. Any ideas why this is??? What should I do?

 

On your car, on the dash, should be a slide/****/roller that controls the interior lights (dash, radio, all the other lit up controls). It will let you dim them or make them fully bright.

On my Dakota, if I rolled it all the way to the right, it would automatically turn the lights on and would keep them on even without the car turned on. You may want to check that and see if its rolled all the way. Usually it will go full bright and then you feel a lil soft click that moves it to being turned on fully without the key.

 

alright devil,,,,,,follow me here. I had already checked to see if the **** was rolled where it should be and it was. Anyhow, I just went out to the garage to check it again after I read your post. I get out there and the light and the odometer light are off. Huh? I open the door and close the door and bingo, the odometer light and dome light stay on again. I stood there for about four minutes and they still are on. I don't get it. I'm going to check it again in a minute.

Something I have noticed with my Dodge vehicles has been that the interior light stays on longer then it normally should. Usually all I do is make sure all the doors are properly shut and then try it again.

If you have one of those key fobs...try locking the doors with that...as on my Stratus it will blink the lights and then they turn off relatively fast. It's only when I'd shut the door and lock it from inside without the key fob that I ever experienced that problem.

I go out there AGAIN and open and close the truck. Nothing. Light is still on. I decide to do a walk around of the car. As I do, I notice that the back passenger's door is slightly ajar. I close the door and guess what? Dome light and odometer light go off. And to think, I thought I couldn't fix things.

Hehehehe it happens to us all bud! I wouldnt sweat it any. Even the best of the best make mistakes. It's an honest one too.

 

This is kind of funny. I get the needswing downpipe this past weekend and get it installed. While i have the car up on the ramps, I take the plate off. I come on home with it like that. The car sounds wickedly loud. It's so loud that I am afraid to drive it into my neighborhood for fear of the neighbors complaining. No big deal though, because I will put the plate back on today. All I have to do is to crawl under the car and screw the wing nuts in.

I am leaving my house tomorrow at ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh about 5:00 AM. Yeah,,,,that's AM. Therefore, I decide to get my plate and crawl under the car to screw it back on. Hmmm,,,,,,,my car is too low. I cannot slide under the car.

Now,,,,,,my neighbors don't know this yet, but they are getting up at 5:00 with me tomorrow.
