Need to vent
You guys will find this hilarious and sad...anyway here it goes.
Last night, Thursday 20 April at 8:45pm I was broadsided by a bicycle! Not a motorcycle, or a scooter...a freaking mountain bike! The cyclist ran a red light while "driving" in the pedestrian cross walk. I was in the right lane, second car back when our light turned green. The car to the left of me wasn't moving very fast but didnt think of it until I hear this THUMP and then I see this guy on a bike go behind me. Needless to say, the cops got involved. Asked for my insurance and tried to cite me for being stopped in the cross walk! They then got the complete story and gave the cyclist a sobriety test. The cyclist - 30-40 y/o black male 5'8 average build. He wasn't legally drunk that I know of. He did admit to having a drink or two and showed me that his brake lines were non-existant! He also doesn't have insurance...go fig.
Here is the damage: 4 dents; 3 in the driver's side rear door, 1 in the front. A big scratch in the front door where his handle bars hit my car...4 inches below my open window. My first estimate came back 2k for everything. Here are some pics of the damage.
All I can say is that I am glad that neither of us were hurt and only in Shreveport can this happen to you!!!

Holy sh**! I would have killed the guy. This is why I fully believe that if you ride a bicycle on the street you should have to carry some kind of legal insurance. It's a crock that a person can slam into your car and not have to pay a dime! I'd be looking into a civil case in the amount of your deductible plus court costs heh.
Sorry bout the ride man...its a beautiful car.

He must of been haulin ***! That is a lot of damage from a mountain bike. Dude must of been celebrating 4/20..... I want to laugh at the story, but then I see the damage to a fellow SRT-4 and the humor quickly fades.... I feel for ya man!
Yeah, I was doing all I could not to kill the guy with the cops there. Literally, there was a witness making sure I stayed away from the guy. I'll see what my insurance says, and take it from there. I bet he doesn't have any money anyway...muth*****er!
I had nightmares last night going over what i could have done differently which was nothing.

I feel for ya... When I had my '87 Mustang GT, an idiot on a bike swerved in front of me and made a nice 6 foot long smear on the passenger side with his handlebar and pedal. He was military like me and followed me to the base and left a note on my car saying he was going to report me to the Base Commander for reckless driving. Trouble was, the guy behind me was MY Squadron Commander who was following me to the same social function on the base. He got me off the hook by telling the truth.
Some bikers give others a bad name by trying to act like Lance Armstrong and thinking traffic laws don't apply to them.......hello, they DO!!!!
