Srt-4 v.s evo 8
In my opinion, and I am not a pro driver by any means, I like to have a little tire spin, which keeps the rpms up where they are useful, and then get a reasonable launch, with miniimal tire spin. On the evo, it does not spin the tires, have not had them spin yet. If you don't keep the rpms above 2500 she is a dog. It is just a lot harder, I still haven't mastered the launch on it yet, and there is a 5000rpm limiter while standing still; the ecu won't let the engine go any further. Feathering the clutch boarders on riding the clutch and you don't take advantage of the awd, ideally you want a little tire spin and you want it to stay up in rpms. I just can't bring myself to dump the clutch at 5000rpm yet, maybe I will someday. I had a run in with a nissan sentra, it was beat up but had a turbo kit and 300hp which I didn't know about till later, I didn't give him any thought and when I took off I let if drop to 1000rpm, he took off spinning tire, I was barely chuging along till I got over 2500rpm and I thought I could real him in, no realing in that time, he was gone. Sleeper took me by surprise, so I took advantage of awd and passed him in a tight corner, he couldn't use his hp, while I could. He was fast, but only in a straight line. You also have to remember the evo IX has mivec, and she pulls hard past 7000rpm. On a side note, the fierce competition with subaru stis has made mitsu and subaru keep raising the bar, I like to compare this to liter bikes, when will it stop. The next subaru is going to have 320 hp and there is a fq400 evo (from the factory) that is 400hp. Sorry about the length. Just kinda started rambling....
Evo VIII's only put about 210 hp to the ground when stock. They're also heavier so if the Evo doesn't make use a hard AWD launch (slipping, not dumping the clutch) it's a good race. An experienced Evo owner should nail an SRT off the line.
From a roll the SRT is, I think, I a bit better.
There's no comparison when the subject comes to handling.
I traded a 4 for an Evo so I've got a fair amount of experience here.

Yes, your right. It is a car only availible overseas, england. But I heard about it while in australia. They do a lot of importing of japanese cars there. From what I heard it is a special built motor, with special different internal parts, ect. But, the war drudges on..it is great to see car companys batteling out for more power and performance. It was funny because a journalist asked what the fq stood for, and the mitsu guy said (kinda not knowing himself) "flippin' quick!" And just curious cj8718, where did you come up with 210 hp when stock. Seems to be selling the car a little short. I have also heard stock evo IX with a reflash of the ecu(stock down to the air filter) pulling 308hp and 316tq on the dyno. Maybe I should just go and dyno the srt and evo and see what the baseline is on both.

I wouldn't worry about the FQ too much, you can have your EVO at the same bar with mods...or even do the same things the FQ has had done to it. Cj8718 has a good point there, slipping the clutch instead of dumping is a lot easier on the clutch and a lot of AWD driver's do that. I do that sometimes and I still take off pretty quick.
My money is on the driver also...stock for stock.
