I raced a friend's 350Z Track Edition when my SRT-4 was stock and they were dead even. It is a driver's race. With little upgrades an SRT-4 will beat one with ease. 350Zs are sexy cars, the problem is that there are not as many options for upgrades as the SRT-4 and upgrades for the 350Z are very expensive. For a decent 350Z aftermarket catback exhaust system you can expect to pay anywhere from $800-$2,000. Forget it if you want any real horsepower gains. A twin-turbo kit for a 350Z runs anywhere between 9K-14K depending on the setup. I administrate a Nissan Z site and have a Z club, trust me most 350Z owners would go absolutely broke to compete on a track with a Stage 2 or 3 SRT-4. The 350Z is a great touring car and fun to drive but an absolute nightmare to modify to make any real gains.

The 90-96 300Z Twin-Turbo is a different story.........

It never happened unless it was in horrible condition and running on 3 cylinders......

If you did beat a 90-96 300Z it was probably naturally aspirated. Unless you actually see the engine, at times it is difficult to tell. The TT has 300hp & 283tq and runs around a 13.7-14.0 second 1/4m. The naturally aspirated 2 and 4 seater(heavier) 5-speed version has 222hp & 198tq and runs in the neighborhood of 15.0-15.5 depending on driver, the automatic 15.5-15.9, a little slower.

It's most deff. a drivers race. Z are actually not that hard to modify. There is a Intake plenium spacer...just a spacer that gives it 15WHP for like $230. I know that doesn't seem like a lot but for a well tuned NA car from the factory and only a 3.5 V6 its pretty considerable. Gota think to...most of the people that own Z's have the money and time. A Greddy TT Kit is $5495.99. Then there is the APS TT kit or the single for that matter. Thats a bad mama-jama. The Z is deff. the more capable car. But then again...I don't see anyone with a Z in the 10's...

That spacer is a joke and does not give you 15WHP. When I mentioned the turbo kit that was including installation. If you are a badass and are able to do it all yourself then it is affordable for Z owners. There are quite a few Z's in the 10's but they definately have more than 20K under the hood.

If you would like me to provide the magazine that made 15WHP with a spacer and 19' wheels I will. They have charts, just have to look through the 100 or so that I have at home. . There are ppl out there like our follow SRT owners that have done most mods by themselves. I'd like to see your Z, I was looking at getting one before I bought my SRT. I've heard of some Z's in the 10's...just never saw a vid or some slips. Hopefully I'll be able to race a Z33 soon, I want to so bad.
