Default RE: Engine Swap

I have an 02 Neon thats an Automatic.I was wondering what modifications i would have to do if i were to put an srt-4 engine in it. I want to keep it automatic because changing the whole car to manual would be a nightmare. Would an srt-4 engine bolt upp to an 02 automatic transmission? What modifications would i have to do to get an srt-4 engine in my 02 neon with an auto trans? Please Help ME OUT!

THANKS

aj

actually, changing to SRT transmission (850) would bealot less headache in the end than trying to run the SRT motor the current trans. your talking a good bit of work to put the SRT motor in, so it wouldnt be taking all that much further to put in a 5spd

actually doing a srt swap isn't really that big of a deal, there have been a number of them done. the biggest thing is the firewall and the wiring harness.

you won't be able to use a auto tranny on a srt motor unless you have a full standalone ecu in the car. the wiring and programming of an srt is formanual only, so it would not control the tranny at all. if you went with a standalone you could program it to function, but that's probably more trouble than its worth. besides, manuals are a lot more fun!

Well thanks for the advice. Im probably going to leave my 2.0 in my car and supe it up as best i can. I already got the srt-4 dual exhaust on my car and i threw a ractive cold-air intake on my car which should give it some more HorsePower. Any other suggestions so i can get more horsepower outta my 2.0? Thanks

before dumping too much into your 2.0, beware that it is only capable of so much before you talking madd amounts of money, upgrading internals, and frying your current transmission. if your planning turbo kit and all, i would probably just think bout going with the SRT swap

When I had my 04 SXT I had a Injen CAI, Obx racing header, custom 2.5 inch cat back with down pipe for racing and a 2 chamber flowmaster muffler with dual outlets so it looked liek the SRT, sounded awsome, Jet stage 2 chip, magnecore 8.5 wirers and NGK iridium plugs, it was pretty fast I was able to beat a few honda si, nissian seR (it was stock). So maybe this will give you some idea on what you can do.
