Stock axles and slicks.......
OK. I found a set of barely used slicks mounted on 15x8s for $300. They were used for 3 runs on a highly modified SRT-4. How many runs do a set of slicks have in them? Is this a good deal? Now for my real question....will the stock axles hold up to a set of slicks with stage 2 w/ toys? I'm eventually going to upgrde my axles, but that will be a little bit. I'm really mindful of wheelhop and immediately let off if I start hopping badly. Are the stock axles up to a few passes on slicks?
don't bother upgrading your axles, the stock ones are better actually. the stock axles can take a lot of abuse, i do 2nd gear burn outs on my slicks and launch at 5k and my axles hold up just fine. i broke the driver's side once, but that was my fault. just remember to roll out of your burn outs and you'llbe fine.
what size are the slicks? a 15x8 rim will hold a rather large slick, and could very well be way too large for your set up. also that size rim most likely isn't going to fit on the stock suspension.....

The slicks were on an SRT-4, but whether or not he had coilovers or not, I don't know. I'm going to look at them like thurs. so I'll be sure to ask him. I'm hoping to see the car for myself. Now that I think about it, he probably does have coilovers considering he is putting down like 650+ hp to the wheels at 28 psi on race gas. As a matter of fact, he mentioned something about a spare AEM stand alone cause he sold the car before putting it on. He actually sold the car to his brother who works with him, so I don't know what he's doing with it. Oh well, I need to worry about stuff like that later, I just need to put the power I have now to the ground. He did say that the slicks cleared the stock front brakes though.
