I think we all have encountered this kind of uninformed ignorance and stupidity. I had a similar occurance at an open car show where this ***** made statements obviously within earshot of me as I was cleaning it up to **** me off and show off to his buddies that were with him making statements like "who would bring a Neon to a car show" and "it has a body kit and it's not even a very good one". I decided to do the same thing back to him by saying quite loudly to my stepbrother how "some people are soo stupid that they don't even realize that this is an SRT-4 and not a regular Neon and that it comes from the factory this way body kit and all". I also rubbed it in further by mentioning how the SRT-4 will beat most musclecars (stock that is) and most likely whatever POS they had. They were looking at my dad's Charger at the time next to my SRT-4 so I'm more than certain they all heard every word as I never heard another comment from them after that.

 

Sorry but I think having the "living loud" maxed out in traffic is just begging for attention...look at my wing bounce... I think she was bending your ear just like you were bending hers. Yeah, she was a bit off with her remarks but if she has to put up with your noise why not give some back. My SRT is looked upon well by the import crowd that actually have spent thousands and many hours getting there cars to run right...as for the rest....who cares.

 

actually, just for clarifaction purposes... I do not have the Living Loud system in my Neon... therefore I would doubt the wing was rattling (and to metal, not rap?). Also, she went out of her way to roll her window down to "speak" with me. Again, I would be highly surprised if you could hear any such music coming from my car within the cab of that truck with the windows up... or maybe Chevy trucks really are built that poorly

this is not the first time this has occured, and I doubt it'll be the last... and all the other times I have not even had my radio on. so I would tend to disagree with your opinion

Here in Tucson, people think they are doing you a favor by throwing their uneducated, worthless opinion at you as if it is going to bring about some sort of revelation to you and you are automatically going to think "wow I should have bought a different car". Most of the time it just makes me laugh. There are a lot of haters out there, especially when you drive a sportscar. There are times where it really pisses me off. Every once in a while you have to put someone in check......

 

For instance, about 7 months ago my girlfriend and I were in a local performance shop ordering some parts. It was my first time in the shop but you could tell the regulars because all they did was stand around and talk bull**** and never bought anything. Some guy with his girlfriend randomly walks up to me and says "I don't like SRT-4s". I said "thats nice" and acted like he was not even there. He then says "those cars are so cheap, the engines are made of nothing but composite plastic". I said "wow you really know your cars, you must be famous for your intellect" and turned back around to the counter.

At this point, his buddy who also worked at the shop started to chime in with little sideline comments. Finally I asked which car in the parking lot was his. He then pointed to the worst looking car in the parking lot; a 1995 Purple V6 Mustang with euro tailights. I rolled my eyes at him and smiled and turned back to the counter. I can tell my girlfriend was getting upset at their heckling.

Needless to say he kept talking.......

He said "to put this into perspective for you I paid $4,500 for my stang with a V8 swap and mine is paid off and you paid 25K for that piece of ****". I finally snapped......... I asked him how old he was. He said "29". I said "well I am 25 and if you look at the lien amount on my 05 SRT-4, it says $0. If you look at my Z's lien amount it would also say $0. I own a Condo that looks over the hills of Tucson and enough land in Texas to build my own motor speedway with parking. I have two college degrees, two sports cars, two homes, two dogs, and obviously a sweet, beautiful girlfriend who has a Prada fetish. See this watch (tag heuer F1 with titanium band), I would rather have this watch than your ****box any day. When I wake up every morning I do it with a smile, not with a Taco Bell name tag on my shirt. How is that for perspective?"

I don't enjoy doing that but sometimes you have to be straight up real and make someone feel like garbage to shut them up. He did not know what to say except "whatever".

 

That's what I'm talking about! Just HAD to be a mustang guy, didn't it. (No offense to the VERY few mustang owners out there that are cool.......you know who you are)

Most people round here (Houston) know what an SRT-4 is and give respect to it.
Yet then again there are those who have no clue haha. When i first got my SRT the guys at work were giveing me a hard time saying "what did you do that for? Trade in the Vette for a ****"GEO"*****? Lmao! i had to lay down the smack......
-"First The "Vette" is in the garage (paid for) and Second that is an SRT-4 **which Like my Vette** will blow anything away in the parking lot out there." -Includeing the patrol cars :P

Of course i get a few dumb looks. I took them out to have a look at it and let them hear the exaust rumble... No one hates on the SRT-4 anymore at work. They all like it and think its nice.

As far as the younger crowd they all give respect to the SRT and know what it is and can do b4 i knew about the stage kits i had people asking me what stage.... course i felt dumb and would only say stock. Hopefully soon ill say stage 2........3 costs more than i want to put in to the SRT (at this time) gotta dump some go faster money into the Vette.

 

He just happen to have a Mustang. I understand not all Mustang owners are like that; used to own one myself. When I used to drive my 93 Cobra around, random people would approach me out of nowhere and they always had a friend of a friend who had a car that can beat me. Very annoying!![:@]

Not a whole lot of people, especially people over the age of 30 know much about the SRT-4.
I went on a drive with some people from my Z club and one guy asked "hey is that one of those Mitsubishi Revolutions"?

 

as a mopar enthusiast, i feel that i should comment here.

as many of you may know, i frequent ALOT of forums, and i dont think that this applies to anyone here but the srt4 trolls are every bit as bad as the mustang/camaro trolls who come in here from time to time and run their mouths. ive lost track as to how many srt4 people i have banned from the civic site, or mustangforums...and it is that group of people that the rest of you can blame for the negative view of srt4s.

the issue with many srt4 owners (and many "import" owners...and im including the srt4 into the "import group", as it is basically the same genre...its just that the srt4 is domestic and is faster than most of the stock "imports") is that regardless of how fast the car is, it is still an economy car, and in many cases, its the first "fast" car that alot of people have owned. the reason that i put fast in quotes, is because (stock) a car that *can run* high 13s really isnt all that fast...for stock, yes...for a stock 4 cylinder? its very fast, but in the grand scheme of things a stock srt4 is only fast in its class, but you still have people who go to other forums, who have done ALOT of reading of street racing and import magazines, and although they have never been to a track, and if they did, they only ran mid 14s, they will go into a mustang forum and spout off about how "their turbo 4 cylinder neon owns all"...and the fact of the matter is, that they dont...last time to the track, there was a silver srt4 and he had some license plate frame about "eating cobras and crapping LS1s"...and he was running 14.60s. some people seem to get an srt4, and run a 14.1, and all of a sudden he or she talks like they are a seasoned track veteran, and although he or she has never even changed a tire, they are some how the authority on all things automotive..

another thing that i see with these srt4 owners with a stack of sport compact car magazines in the back seat, is that they often boast of things like "when i get my agp turbo swap finished" or "when i get my stage 3 installed"...modifications only count when they are completed...and threatening people with future mods (again, i see alot of this with the trolls ar MF) is a ricer move...and sadly, the douchebags who spout off about what their car "can run"...and what mods they "will have someday"...who run their mouth about how badly they can beat this and that, when theyve never been to a track, smacks of ricerism, and due to the fact that the srt4 IS a compact 4 cylinder car, people are going to lump everyone else in as 'ricers'...another group guilty of these same things is the ion redline/slowbalt SS crowd, but theyre slower...and talk more trash.

so basically, the fact that alot of SRT4 owners ACT like "ricers", that makes those who dont like the idea of a 13 second 4 cylinder car THAT MUCH more mouthy, and its not the fault of the ignorant, but instead of those srt4 owners who make the rest look bad.
