I was thinking about purchasing a boomba short throw shifter and I was wondering if anyone has bought or used one of them. If you have please gimme some details on how they are compared to whatever else u have used.

Someone help the guy out! I'm curious as well how it would perform against my Mopar STS that I'm wanting to replace for no good reason.

I went ahead and bought it. Installation was easy took about 20 mins. Seems to need a bit of breaking in but the throw is real nice and the shiftknob it comes with has a good feel to it. If anyone else was looking at it, i think it is a good buy and will keep you posted on how it works out when it is broken in.

MADDOG STS!!!!#1 sts in the market right now!!!you can get up to 82%less throw Vs Mopar's 32% or something like that....get it, you'll not be dissapointed

When you say sticky during regular driving, is it impossible to get in short of slamming, (grind, grind, grind and grind some more) or just hard to get in? How does it compare with the Mopar? Does the Mopar STS take out most of the spongy-ness of the stock system with teflon/delrin parts? I want a stiffer, smoother gate with no squeaks or spongyness. I don't care about the throw length really. I don't think I shift any faster with a STS. I'm just worried that the Mopar is just a cut shift lever with all the same ailments that the OEM had. I'd like to go Boomba or Hurst, but I'm already loosing my 3rd synchro and I don't want to loose anymore for the time being by going STS. I think the Boomba is a reverse engineer of the Hurst, but Hurst is months out on making anything due to the recent buyout. Should I remake the blocks in my OEM out of stainless and just call it good?

the musyiness your feeling isnt just the stock shifter. its also the rubbery bushings that are in there. i put in a mopar STS and booger bushings. the bushings are MUCH stiffer and give a more solid feel. the stock rubber ones i could easily bend and squich with my fingers... the boogerbushings i could not even move.i wouldnt mind trying out a 58% maddog though. but im happy with the mopar.

perhaps before you spend on a new shifter alltogether, just order the bushings. they are under 20 bucks. if your happy with the throw on the stock shifter than the bushings may take away some of the soft feeling. and if its still not to your standard you can always order a new shifter after giving the bushings a whirl
